GAS-ADDICTED CHILDREN ROUNDED UP

Health officials armed with a court order rounded up gas-addicted
children last night and took them from Sheshatshiu to a military
barracks for treatment. Twelve children, many giggling and still high
on gas fumes, were escorted on to a bus by social workers and driven
out of town shortly after 7 p.m. The court order listed 19 Innu
children, between the ages of 10 and 18, but seven others had either
ran away when the bus showed up or had been taken away earlier by
their parents.
