MARIJUANA ARREST GROUNDS WARWICK AT MIAMI AIRPORT

M IAMI - Singer Dionne Warwick was arrested Sunday when baggage screeners
at Miami International Airport said they found 11 suspected marijuana
cigarettes inside her lipstick container.

Warwick, 61, of Miami Beach, was charged with possession of less than 5
grams of marijuana.

She signed an affidavit promising to appear in court and was released.

Warwick was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles on Sunday. As she went through
security, screeners at Concourse D noticed a suspicious item in her
carry-on bag about 7:30 a.m.

Police officers discovered the marijuana cigarettes and placed Warwick
under arrest.

Warwick wound up missing the flight.

Houston, Warwick became famous during the 1960s for such Burt Bacharach -
Hal David compositions as "Walk on By,'' "I Say A Little Prayer,'' and "Do
You Know The Way To San Jose?''
