I met a girl the other night that was like: "If Resolution isn't a rave, I don't know what is."

Then I gave her a flyer.

I just don't know why someone would pay over 100$ to listen to the electronica equivalent of Q92. Go to Rewire instead. This year will be my third year running, and Vinny has yet to dissapoint.

I have to say that the stereotype that irks me the most is that all electronic music is known as "techno" (see the flyer for the bal en blanc from 2 years ago, they had a "techno" room with nothing but trance dj's...)

You should not take stimulants until you have stopped growing. It will seriously stunt your growth and development. No offense here, but it's no wonder a lot of the younger girls I see at raves look like ironing boards with legs. Amphetamines fuck with your pituitary gland, the same one that makes men grow hairy balls and women fur burgers.

For the record, if anyone took the time to actually read the article that I posted, it doesn't bash veganism. Maddox is clearly explaining how it's people with their holier-than-thou, preachy attitude that piss him off. He takes the time to outline the hypocrisy, but never actually says he has a problem with vegetarianism itself, only the people who shout it from the rooftops trying to "convert" people.

Evidently, hw's not the only one who feels this way.

For every animal that you don't eat I'll eat three.

Melting ice in Northern Canada and Siberia would create an arid climate ideal for growing wheat (once the air is warm enough.) A warmer climate would push the treeline further north.

And a create a cheaper shipping lane across the north pole.

As far as the economy is concerened, cheaper international trade would benefit everyone. We would be
spending less, and as result would print less money.

Money itself can't collapse, only a monetary system can collapse. For example, the gold standard was switched to the oil dollar with the creation of OPEC in the 70's (correct if I'm wrong, I'm a little shaky on my economic history). Right now, our present monetary system is on the verge of collapse, but there will always be money, because it solves the problem of the double coincidence of wants.

Example: you are a barber and you need a loaf of bread. In order for you to eat you need to find a farmer who needs a haircut. By creating something that you both invariably desire (money) you solve that problem, and now business can be conducted.

But that belongs in a different thread.

You're right, you said they couldn't feel because they have no nervous system. But it can react to it's environment.

If you're somewhere and they're playing music you don't like, what do you do? You leave. You are subjectively reacting to your environment.

Now, obviously, a plant can't do that, but it can grow and it can die. Certain styles of music will make a plant grow more quickly, whereas other styles will make it shrivel and die. It is reacting to it's environment subjectively (ie. feeling).

Then how come plants have different growth patterns depending on the STYLE of music that is played to them? Somehow, the physical sensation of the vibration in the air is affecting the growth pattern of the plant in some way that can't be quantitatively measured. Surely plants don't have ears right? (Besides corn, of course)

I'm gonna play a little Devil's advocate here.

I agree that Global warming and pollution will fuck us long-term. But short term global warming may actually be beneficial. Rising temperatures, and melting ice could open up new fertile lands, new shipping passages, not to mention that a higher global temperature and higher concentration of CO2 actually encourages plant growth. Considering the current economic state of affairs, a new shipping passage between Asia, North America and Northern Europe would cut a large portion of shipping costs, as well dependance on Chinese goods. It would encourage industry in the parts of the world that are the most threatened by economic collapse.

A bit of biology:

Notice the pronounced canines and incisors, teeth that evolved to suit their purpose, ie. tearing meat off bones.

Let's compare to a herbivorous animal

Notice the large collection of molars and pre-molars, teeth useful for grinding vegetable material.

Why would you deny a cat the very food source it evolved to survive off of?

It's the same reason why you don't feed an iguana meat, because it's digestive system is not equipped to deal with it.
