yea its a real drag when labels do that shit .

the "whats hot" comment isnt something im into but it is what labels look for when signing a tune ...at least in this underground electronic scene. in general tho , there aint much experimented stuff . i wish there was tho . i dunno the labels you mentioned or the style but thats pretty rare but cool. i myself write experimented freeform and its quite hard getting labels interested in it cus its not the normal style thats being pressed now :S

and this is why there isnt much experimented stuff because labels are too scared to sign it and lose coin . customers would buy it because its DIFFERENT from everything else artist write yet still blends with the genre (depending how much the artist takes that into consideration). but back on point : labels are the ones checking out what customers like but in the end , the labels have final say . this is changing now that vinyl is going down and mp3s are getting bigger for sales and now labels can have more flexablity on experimented material.

someone didnt read me post too well .ITS THE LABEL THAT MAKES SHIT LIMITED . a lot of artist experiment ( even myself ) but its next to impossible to get signed because labels are comfy with "whats hot". we are all in a big family but we all need names to tell em apart , duhh.

every genre in music has experimented/underground (some are producers like some on this board) & then more commercial music. the commercial ( sound thats selling ) makes more doh and labels are too scared to risk money on experimented side of the genres. its all about sales.

there is a point in genres , electronic music has too many styles to keep it under one name & those styles have sub-genres too.
