Oh man. I can't believe this. I first met Mike a few years ago. Over the last few years, I've run into him at parties in Montreal and Toronto. He was always a great guy to dance or have a drink with. Him and I also spoke occasionally on MSN, especially during some tough times in both our lives. He was a great guy to talk with. Definetly helped me through some tough times and I hope I was able to do the same for him.

I remember one of the first times I met him was at a MEMF fundraiser house party. We were joking around and he grabbed my hat and threw it downstairs. The hat disappeared. In fact, I was jokingly cursing him about it the other day. There was never a dull moment when Mike was around. I'm definetly going to miss him.

RIP Mike.

we ended up at cine express. the place was clean and quiet. the waitress was extremely friendly, very cute and smelled just fine. the food was fucking amazing. my only regret is not having gone there more often.

and bar diana is ass. i'll never forgive sharon for bringing me there.

I'm looking for somewhere to chill/lounge around Atwater and Ste-Catherine around 11 PM tonight. Somewhere quiet to have a bite to eat and have a drink or two.

I know there's Cine Express nearby, but I don't think it serves alcohol. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

Ok, you win. Mozilla is going to start charging soon, so we should all stop using it and move to Opera.

Why on earth would Mozilla start to charge for Firefox? There isn't a single browser out there that charges for it's use, including Microsoft's Internet Explorer. If they started to charge for Firefox, I (and many others) would just go back to IE, or Opera, or Netscape.

Yeah... the guy's daughter was a grade above me in high school. She was this prissy little girl that would have fit in perfectly as one of the rich girls on The O.C. One year, after summer break, she came back to school with a whole new face. To this day, we're sure she had plastic surgery.

The St-Jacques motels are seedy, to say the least. Most of them offer rates for 3 or 4 hours at a time. Only prostitutes and teen couples make use of those rates.

Fake? It was a legit Peel Pub at the time. The stabbing and shooting were seperate incidents. The stabbing was actually across the street and the shooting was right outside the bar.

I remember the PJs shooting. That was like 8 or 10 years ago. My parents used to hang out there occasionally. It was pretty fucked up. I remember hearing about the shootings at McDs in CSL too.

Anyone remember the guy who got gunned down outside CSL BBQ about 6-7 years ago? His daughter went to my high school... it was pretty fucked up.

Mozilla is simply staying true to what the top level domains are for. Their non-profit organization resides on a [ .org ] domain. Their commercial organization resides on a [ .com ] domain.

I wish I'd have known all the extensions I have installed wouldn't be compatible with v1.5.

Another shitty bar I can recomend is the real pub, its made to look like Peel Pub, but its not. and people get stabbed there.

It was a Peel Pub for a year or two. A gang member was stabbed outside, 2 years ago, when it was still a Peel Pub.

Many kinds of phreaking are obsolete. I'd be surprised if it was a dialer also, since dialer programs typically don't call countries like Italy. Usually, they connect you to long distance numbers in places like the Carribeans where they have an agreement with the local long distance company and they get a cut of the exorbitant rates charged.

Either way, simply call your phone company. They'll likely credit the charges as a courtesy and then block all calls overseas (or at least to Italy) for you.

If your lucky you can find the same version of hard drive (gotta be exact same size and modle type etc) then you can swap the controller boards and hope that it wasn't a physical fuckup on the disk.

bah... the data isn't that important. pretty much just mp3s and movies. not worth the trouble. thanks for the suggestion, though.

are you sure they weren't suggesting you put the drive in an external hard drive enclosure?

for about $50, you can hook the drive up into an external enclosure which will connect to your computer through USB.

That's rather excessive, not to mention completely racist. They're going to bury themselves by doing this.

it's called google bombing. the "i'm feeling lucky" button brings you to the first result for your search. google bases a site's rank for a search mostly on how many sites link to it using that term. people figured out they could take advantage of this with blogs. so hundreds of bloggers link to a certain site with certain terms and within weeks, that site is the number one result for that search term.

other popular google bombs:
miserable failure
gastrointestinal dysentery (a restaurant that fired a waiter cause he blogged about them)
Mouton insignifiant
French military victories
buffone
'Out of Touch Executives' used to bring you to Google's corporate info page
'hell' used to bring you to [ microsoft.com ]
'buggy insecure browser' used to give you a link to download internet explorer
'liar' used to bring you to Tony Blair's bio.
'litigious bastards' used to bring you to [ SCO.com ] SCO claimed that Linux violated some of their copyrights and sued IBM, Novell and Chrysler. Red Hat sued them back.

often, when a google bomb becomes too popular, it's 'defused' the same way it was created. too many people talk about it and bump the bomb lower in the results.

don't bother with switching to imap. it's most likely going to cost more. with a pop3 account, you can configure OE to leave the emails on the server.

open OE, then go to Tools > Accounts. click the 'Mail' tab, choose your account, click 'Properties', click the 'Advanced' tab and then look at 'Delivery'. you can set OE to leave the messages on the server or delete them after a certain period of time.

i don't know of any synch programs, but you can do what is set your desktop to leave mail on the server and set your laptop to delete them. there are two downsides to this, though. one, you'll always have to check mail on your desktop first. two, if you get any emails after you check with your desktop but before you check with your laptop, you'll only have the new ones on your laptop.

or you could set both computers to leave the messages on the server and then delete them manually through webmail or telnet.

Smurf is exactly right on this. It never has been an issue of Firefox being more secure. The mast majority of exploits target IE simply because the vast majority of those susceptible to exploits use IE.
