Seven years ago I did a mix called All My Bitches, in response to people complaining about the trancey direction hardcore was going. It was about 70 minutes of 90s "happy" hardcore, ranging from anthems to more obscure tunes. This mix brought me to the attention of several out of country promoters, and was the jumping off point that led to where I am today.

Now, ever since I did All My Bitches, people have bugged me over and over to do a followup. And I've tried. Oh man, how I have tried. But every time I've been just about ready to do it, something has come up and I've put it aside.

Until now.

It's on like King Kong!

Well it took me a couple weeks, but I finally got it done! This is the 6th installment of my Sort of Not Really Live series. Well, sixth, and sixth and a halfth as you'll see below. This is the set I played at 303 Family's Hardcore Brawl in Denver, Colrado on Friday, January 16th 2009. This was a wicked event, with a diverse lineup, thrown by some pretty cool people. Seriously, if you're ever in the Denver area, check these guys out. They're the shit.

Anyways, there are TWO versions of this set. You see, I was booked to play 90 minutes, but the venue owner decided that after I flew all the way down to Colorado from Toronto, he was gonna cut me off half an hour early. So the first version (6a - Live Set Version) is what I actually ended up playing. Now me being pissed off decided fuck the venue owner, I'm going to play a couple encores. And the sound guy let me. So hey, points to that guy. The two encores (which were the Al Storm remix of Shooting Star and the Brisk and V.A.G.A.B.O.N.D. mix of Eyeopener) were omitted, as honestly, dead air and then playing a track in its entirety and then more dead air and then playing ANOTHER track in its entirety is kind of boring. Also I'm pretty sure Al Storm, Brisk and V.A.G.A.B.O.N.D. wouldn't want me putting their tunes up full length at 192 as part of a mix. This version of the mix is just under 70 minutes in length, and so is ideal for burning to CD for those of you still living in the stone age who don't own MP3 players, or a deck in your cars that'll play data CDs. Honestly, the only reason this version even exists is because I got so many complaints about the last SoNRL and Extra! Extra! not fitting on CDs. Well, here you go.

"But Saiyan!" I bet you're all asking, "What happened to the last 30 minutes?"

Well, me being me, I had an all out cheesefest planned for the last half hour of my set. Except I never got to play it. SO! The second version (Volume 6b - Studio Set Version) is identical to the live set version up until Summer Sun (seriously, it's the exact same mix. Isn't editing fun?), and from there continues on with what I WOULD have played, if that asshat hadn't cut me off. This version is just about 91 minutes long and will NOT fit on a standard audio CD. If you want to take it on the go with you, you either need an MP3 player, or a CD player that will play data CDs.

Just a quick note regarding the forthcoming material in these mixes, to avoid any potential shitstorms the presence of unreleased material may incur. As I'm sure everybody knows right now, all the forthcoming Next Generation/Blatant Beats/Lethal Theory stuff in there was actually released via Nukleuz, but as they are still forthcoming on their real signed labels, I've chosen to list them as such, since it's still not particularly clear if they were actually supposed to be released in the first place. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

A little over a year ago, I found myself in a shitty place in life, and decided to take out my frustrations in the form of a mix called Chimichanga: A Lesson in Sweet Stabbity Death. As it turns out, making very angry mixes is actually really therapeutic. Who knew? Hahahaha. Anyways, so here I am over a year later, and I find myself in the same boat once again. No need to go into details, if you know me, you know what's up, and if you don't, listening to this here mix oughta spell it out for you quite nicely. I did this mix as a sort of....I dunno, closure? I guess? Sort of closing the book on a bad period so I can get on with life. There's a lot of things I feel like I need to say, but that isn't a possiblity, so I'll do it with this. I have this big problem with needing to get the last word. Well here it is, the last word.

I did this mix for me, not as a proper mix like I'd normally do, so there's a few things I probably wouldn't do if this was a proper demo. It's very all over the place and random (in a good way, I think). The last two tracks aren't really mixed in the traditional beatmatch and mix sort of sense, and one track is left to completely play out (but the bit at the very end makes for an interesting transition). The first mix is also a liiiiiiittle iffy. Not like horribly so, but not something I would normally let slide. Meh! Like I said, I did this for me, and I don't care, so piss off. Hehehe

Anyways now that I've rambled on and made myself sound like a total fucking loser, it's time for me to go all Deadpool on your eardrums one last time. There won't be a Chimichanga 3, as the influence on my life that inspired both mixes is no longer my problem, so I don't see a reason for a third. But hey, who knows, maybe one day.

So as I'm sure most of you have heard by now (if you're in the area, if not, I'll reiterate), Extra! Extra! Happy Hardcore Returns to Buffalo! this weekend (November 14th - 16th for those of you reading this late) has been cancelled. There were some last minute venue issues that led to the cancellation of the party. It sucks pretty bad, but hey, these things happen. So anyways I thought to myself....the party's tomorrow......I had a pretty good idea what I was gonna play....why don't I record that shit and whack it online for everyone pissed off the party was cancelled.

So I did. And here it is.

I'm not 100% happy with it. Like I said it's a rough idea of what I was gonna play. The whole ending bit probably would've got hucked out the window in favor of some other tunes. I doubt I would've played Pacific Sun in it's entirety (I can personally only stand about 3 and a half minutes of it). And such and such. But this is what I had pulled out, so this is what you get.

I didn't really try too hard here. A few sloppy mixes. At one point I seem to recall hitting the jog wheel on the wrong CDJ. But meh. It's still a fun mix. At least I think so anyway.

So, on behalf of everyone involved with Extra! Extra!, we're sorry the party didn't get to happen. Here's some free music. Please don't kill us. Hahahahaha

I've been saying I was gonna whip up a new gabber mix for a few years now, and after playing a solid half hour of it this past week on CHC Radio (Thursdays from 7-9 PM EST on [ www.kraftyradio.com ] ) I decided on a whim to get it done. Dominik is a true Canadian legend. Arguably one of the first people in Canada to play hardcore, whose trademark style has been an inspiration to DJs on this side of the pond for years.

Robotpilot may look sweet and innocent, but make no mistake her blend of hardcore/breakcore/generally messed up music will rape your eardrums with a sandpaper condom. With broken glass glued to it.

Trypnotic has been a mainstay of Toronto hardcore for years. His early appearances at Toronto's Hullabaloo! events have been favorites of many people over the years, and is sure not to disappoint.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody in Phoenix, from Mark and James for bringing me out, to Nico for driving my ass around, Adrian for MCing for me, Adrian's wife (I forgot her name, I fail) for putting up with a complete nutter like Adrian, Coley, Casey, Cheeseburger and everyone else at the after party who kept my tired ass amused long into Sunday, Slipmatt, Simon Apex, Angela Apex, oh man, the list goes on and on. A little note to everyone out there, if you get an opportunity to make it out to a party in Phoenix, DO IT! ESPECIALLY a Kandieland. I've been doing this a long time and I've never, EVER been to an event of that calibre. So trust me on this, go to one of their events.
