I live relatively close to the amazing Strathcona Park, where [i]Odyssey Theatre[/i] holds its season. When I first discovered the theatre I was a bit confused as to why may favorite walk was being rerouted. On closer investigation I witnessed an outdoor theatre where none was before, I realized that this was "a theatre like no other! Odyssey stage productions are held outdoors in Strathcona Park during the summer season. Odyssey is a world of comedy, fantasy and myth that unleashes the imagination." [b][i]-The Eats-[/i] Grocery Edition:[/b] [b]WB&E[/b] traditionally brings a showcase of great places to dine out in Ottawa. This month we showcase the amazing places to stock your pantry. [b]Milk and Cookie Tasting[/b] -Natural Food Pantry (126 York St - 613-241-6629 - [ www.naturalfoodpantry.com ] - This centrally located, amazingly stocked, and professionally staffed natural foods store is a staple for any shopper, carrying wide selections of all everyday shopping needs, as well as the best selection of vitamins and supplements in the market. This month we will be provided with a sampling of one of their best selling items, soymilk. -B. Goods (a bakery) (b.goods@sympatico.ca) - These cookies, available only at Natural Food Pantry, are a decadent vegans dream. These dairy and egg free cookies are just as chewy and rich as you *other* favorite cookie. Made with whole grain flours, non-hydrogenated oils and organic ingredients, you could almost consider them healthy. We will be provided with Whole-wheat Chili Chocolate, Spelt Molasses Ginger, Whole-wheat Double Chocolate, and Organic Valencia Peanut Butter Cookies. [b]Olive Oil and Balsamic Tasting[/b] -La Bottega Fine Foods Shop (64 George St. - 613-789-7575 - [ www.labottega.ca ] - Located in the heat and hustle of the Byward Market this fine food shop (and so much more) is said to have the best sandwiches in town. When people tell me that I always think to myself, "What about the pesto, tapenade, pasta, sweets, olive oil and balsamic vinegar?" Their selection is always astounding and only expected grow with the upcoming completion of their expansion. This month at World Beats and Eats we will treated to a fine selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegar. -Bread and Sons Bakery (195 Bank St. - 613-230-5302) - This newly open bakery has been making a stir with its local and organic approach to baking. The bakery attempts to find local suppliers for their stable items, supporting and supplying our community with baked goods. This month we will get to sample their bread baking. [i][b]The Beats:[/i][/b] This month the giveaways are provided by [b]Putumayo World Music[/b] - Putumayo has been a staple of international sounds for quite some time. This month they are going to supply us with a musical food sampler.
