| Info: | On Sunday, June 18th Kapacity Entertainment presents our biggest event to date, The Infamous Mobb Deep @ Capital Music Hall. What originally started out as a group soon became a movement; furthermore a sound. The movement started in 1993 with the release of Mobb Deep’s debut, Juvenile Hell. Powered by the single “Hit it from the Back”, a then-teenage Havoc and Prodigy stood apart from their more conscious counterparts by addressing a more aggressive style of hip-hop that echoed their tough upbringing in New York’s notorious Queens Bridge Houses. Their brutally honest reality rapping and complementary melancholy beats landed them a deal in 1995 with the up-and-coming Loud label, which released The Infamous, Mobb Deep's breakthrough album. The Infamous became a touchstone for mid-'90s East Coast hardcore rap with classic songs like “Shook One Pt.2”and “Survival Of The Fittest, and found themselves with a huge cult following. The next year brought fourth, Hell on Earth, a million plus seller that placed Prodigy as one of the most influential emcees of his generation and Havoc as one of its most promising producers. A decade later, not much has changed. Mobb Deep recently released their seventh full-length album, Blood Money, on one of hip-hop’s biggest labels, G-Unit Records. 14 years is forever in the hip-hop world. Few hip-hop artists take claim to over a decade of consistency under their resume. Even fewer can claim to have been able to contribute classic material within that time span. Prodigy and Havoc have done that and more.
