no, i don't.

Paying $15 for 2 Remixes of a song is insanity.
I do have records, but only ones of producers i'm fanatical about.

If i were to actually pay for all the music i use in my mixes, i can assure you it'd take me a good 3 months before i'd have enough records for just one mix.

being a student, living on my own means i have zero cash. for anything.

if those mixes are for your personnal use , its not so bad but if you mean you use mostly riped mp3 in public performance , i think it realy suck. Using others peoples released music & dont even pay for it , its a shame

MP3s make for convenient promos. IMHO, it's easier (and more cost effective) to upload a mix than it is to sit around burning cds (or dubbing tapes - as we did back in the day).

However - anyone who says "I'm a student - I can't afford records" or something to that effect can step right up and nibble on my balls (left one first please - it's just a preference).

A lot of artists are barely scraping by... a lot of them work shit jobs to fund their passion for music. I know artists releasing records in Europe that work part time jobs as telemarketers, clerks at copy shops, hanging drywall... not to mention the millions worldwide working at record stores.

Just because something is convenient and easy doesn't mean it's not wrong. If you want to try before you buy - then that's one thing... but if you're ripping stuff from online sources and using it in your sets then maybe you should talk to some artists and see how they feel about it.

yep, and thats why they shouldn't be doing it for the money.

i don't make any money off my mixes.. infact, i LOSE money by hosting my mixes for people to download for free..

i've never been paid to play at a party, i've always done it for free.

I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on equipment.. i NEVER did it expecting money back for it. i do it for the..

passion of music.

sooooooo.......

YOU can step right up and nibble at my balls.

I'd alos like to note that almost no one protests the existance of Kazaa, Soulseek or any other P2P other than the RIAA..

why? cause everyone downloads music for free, OR downloads software for free.

I bet you've done it too. Saying theres some difference when i use a track in my set vs. simply listening to it without paying is crap.

1. you don't want to get into a penis measuring contest with me on the topic of time/money invested.

2. did you say money spent on equipment - or money spent on music? Buying a cdj setup with your student loan doesn't mean shit...

3. why they hell is your prog trance and house listening ass even reading the cunting hardcore forums??

4. if you're actually insinuating that it's ok for you to essentially steal from artists by playing pirated versions of their tracks - but that artists are being greedy by expecting to get something in return for their work then you are operating from a heavily deluded perspective.

Do you have any idea how much of a toll it takes on someone to run a label or go on tour?

One last thing... all these questions are rhetorical. I'm not interested in hearing your responses to any of these... I'm sure it will be more of the same old drivvel. Go back to listening to your prog trance mp3s (with headphones places - spare the rest of us). Yeah... that's a nice choice. It's the one that goes "ooonts-ooonts-ooonts-ooonts-ooonts-ooonts-ooonts-ooonts-oooonts" and has the female vocal where she sings something ethereal sounding.

Enjoy your moment of zen.

I have about 20 mp3s on my system. They are either...

a: mixes that I've done
b: tracks that are unavailable (live recordings, demos, unreleased mixes)
c: unfinished material that artists have asked me to listen to so that I can give them feedback.

One thing, if you make music with the expectation of making money, then you should not be making music.

The only reason people who make music expect money for it is because those before them expected the same thing.

People who play/sing in the metro do it not for the money, but merely to be heard.

That is how it is supposed to be. The mentality that you should be rewarded for your oh so difficult work, is infact the deluded perspective.

i would say that the wroing thing in all this...is the labels and production compagny who sell us the CD at exuberant price and on this total amount the artist if lucky are making 0.75 Cents per CD sold....the rest goes into the pocket of the compagny.....THIS SUCK !!!!

so personaly i would come to a compromise if the labels and producer would adapt themselve to the new era of music.....and so accept to lower the price of a CD... or change their marketing by offering website where you could download mp3 of all their signed artists at a cost of 1 $ (like archambault musique is doing and apple)....that way both the artist and the label have some money....and the custumers as no choice to pay some price in order to have is beloved music...

this is the future of music...

now everyone with a computer can produce some music....but it doesnt mean it's good music....so by providing mp3 at 1 $ the artist will have a fast and rapid way of doing promo of their music....after that only the realy musicians will sell more mp3...then the [ others...ca ] people will have the opportunity to download tons of shit....and then discover the real good artist and stick to them...

after that.....if the artist and label provide a mp3 song for 1 $ they could also do mpegs at 2 $ that way you could both have a video and music of your favorite bands......then when they go on tour....a lot of people will know [ them....ca ] they would have had the chance to download their music for mostly nothing.....so the bands could then ask for a higher price for a ticket show....and they should also offer a real show with visual, lights, theatre play, danse....etc...that way not only you will have most of the song of your artist....but when you go to see them in a show...it will be a REAL [ SHOW....ca ] most of electronic music bands only press play on their fucking CD player and DAT and DVD....and they fake that they are truly playing.....wich is also BORING !!!

there you go....hope someone will understand what i meant...
Hate Mp3 !!!!
