Genesis 1:26-27
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; According to Genesis, Man and God are reflective images of each other, And if so, Who's to say who created who in whose image? |

i'm on the "against" god side of the debate...
however, i do believe that the implications in that quote from genesis were that we were an image...not an exact copy...therefore all our faults vs. the perfectness of god. refer to plato's theory of the perfect forms....all things are images of their perfect forms...a circle for example... yup. -Stefan |

here's some food for thought:
god supposedly created the world in 6 days, rested on the 7th. There is no reference at all, ever to any dinosaurs anywhere in the bible. All living creatures were in existance at the same time as humans. For this problem to be possible...dinosaurs must have been created in a large mass amount on one day...and then completely wiped out the next day. And then after, humans were created. Because we know that humans never existed in the same time as dinosaurs. We all know it's not possible for any entire species to be wiped out in a day. thats just silly. someone once argued with me that an entire species CAN be wiped out in a day because its god, he/she can do anything. okay, but how do you account for the millions of years that different dinosaurs were alive at different times? i guess the question that remains is are dinosaurs fact or fiction? -Stefan |

thats right elven girl
there 2 obstacles humanity must face. 1. the Uranium Barrier; all advanced sentient intelligent civilations will stumble upon element 92, thats Uranium. Oh yea, uranium is really cool, like it can give us almost limitless energy/ressources or blow us up in a big ball of fire. Thus we must rise about our social differences unless we want mutual destruction. 2. The Ecological Collapse Factor; this one is easy, it is called POLLUTION. The problem is technology is way ahead of social development. All industrial and wanna be indutrial nation-states contributes to pollution, however it takes a planetary type goverment/policy/ measures to combat this REAL, EXISTING problem. Super mismatch, boy are we screwed. -helas...we are still fighting for a piece of dirt cuz some ancient book says so... If we still pray in our hearts to god, allah, jesus, or whoever to have a better future, then we will ultimately fail. Humanity as a race, must achieve and progress, to rise high and beyond. We must control our own destiny. We, ourselves, must achieve godhood. ps- oops forgot about the next ice age. bleh.. i need more cough syrup.. |

If you are using the bible a corner stone to prove or denounce the existence of the Christian God all your arguments are false because the bible is a fallible piece of literature, written by humans who are subjects to error.
A large portion of the OT is stolen material from ancient Mesopotamia…and other fallen societies. The bible is nothing more than humans attempt at creating a moral dialogue with themselves. |

I don't know about "proving" the existence of God through the Bible, but you can defintely analyze the Bible to evaluate its liklihood of being of divine origin.
In fact, one of the main reasons I came to disbeleif the Christian/Jewish faith is simply because of how inconsistent and contradictory the Bible is. You can't even claim to beleive every word of the Bible because you would be contradicting yourself in the process. |

1) religion is a man-made phenomena that dates back to paleolithic hunter/gatherers and fertility cults.
2) faith is a product of fear, a crutch for man and womankind to lean on in times of doubt, superstition and need. maleus malefcarum? hello. 3) 'god' or 'goddess' or any pantheon you can ascribe to, to give these things names and faces and personifications are to revere archetypes and archetypes alone. archetypes for what, well thats up to you to decide. how is that your own choice, refer to item 1. know what you believe and why you believe it. this is discordia at work. |

There is no topic under the sun, from bacteria to life on other planets, or from atoms to galaxies, which is not discussed every day by scientists in books, on the television or in newspapers. The only subject excluded from this scientific study is the idea of Divinity that has haunted the human mind persistently for the past thousands of years. Has the mystery of existence been thoroughly explored and has it been proven conclusively that there are no energies in the universe, which correspond to the concepts of religion and have been part of human thinking from the very start? If not, can we call this apathy to a perennial problem a healthy attitude of the intellect?
