depends on your soundcard and what your source is
I figure u need a y- cord with rca plugs (u know just like the inputs on yr vcr) one end going to a 1/8th (stereo mini jack eg. small headphone jack) - u plug the minijack into yr soundcard and the rca into the output of yr source, make sure the seetings are ok internally (eg. u set yr soundcard to record from the line in) and record with yr favorite sound recorder - tons available for free on the internet - and make sure yr levels are right...
do a websearch for more info!
read yr soundcard manual or something

this really isn't a case of being too much of a newb issue.. i mean really, everyone can run windows, and running an app like cooledit is fuckin easy, this is one case where RTFM applies since there's so many sources on this sorta thing.
