 Coolness: 201310 | if you really care about her, you should make the effort to learn french. It is the primary language of Quebec and everyone is supposed to know how to speak it. Most people in the city can speak both languages, but some cannot. Unless you are working telemarketing, which you stated you do not want to do, you will probably from time to time run into someone who speaks english poorly or not at all (like not far from where I live, where one wouldn't last 2 seconds without knowing french), and it is disrespectful to force them to speak english. |

| Coolness: 38205 | Oh I have full intention on real learning French. I stopped when I was seventeen years old because I was naive and figured I would never need to know a second language in life... Learning french at my age will be entertaining, but I am not about to rule it out. However, that takes time and money if I am to take lessons. Need a job to have money, and where better then to learn French then in Quebec?
I know there are some Unilingual jobs other then telemarketing in Montreal, I see them every day off of many websites but wondering if anyone has any helpful tips other then "Learn french you useless anglophone!" :P |

megan( Agent Yogurt) went to a french program this summer for 5 weeks and it was free except like transportation i think. and cegep courses ( like if you wanna take a basic french course) cost like, 200$ about... |

And i just want to comment to Scotty P who said that it is disrespectful to force the french person to speak in English. Woah buddy. Reality check!! Quebec is supposed to be a bilingual province. So isn't it fair to say that it (by your definitions anyways) is also unfair to force the english guy to speak french. I think it would be fair to say, by MY definitions, that both sides should put in a little effort when the other person is struggling. |
