I think is a question of perception and the people you have around you. My friends/family are positive so it have a positive effect on me and on my perceptions. Some people have dark/negative perceptions about anything/everything. I suggest you keep a distance from them. By a distance, I mean a psychological one. |

Ive just been really mad at Quebec since I found out that one of the reasons I never had any friends in school was because I was forced to go to French school, except for the last few years. Since I understood that French people who talk to me could as well be talking to a wall, and that everything I said to them came from a different personality, I found myself in a foreign country, where they speak a different language, and I realized I didn't really want to be here, but that I didn't necessarily want to tear my roots again. I don't survive transplantation very well. I was also expressing the fact that, while they're not super well implemented, Quebec values and social objectives aren't bad in themselves. Quebec is often very socialist, from their French brothers, and it's overall a very caring, loving society, despite their protectionist measures and automatic defense systems against assimilation by the capitalist anglophones who surround them. When I said they deserved to be hated, I meant that it was important that they don't forget that they're against big odds, and trying to prosper in adversity. Something like that, anyway. As I try to make friends off the Internet where I grew up, because I am a runt in my families, and gay, so I could find friends and people to relate to more easily that way, I actually find it hard to find people who will outright be negative. Most people seem to like to pretend that everything's cool and everything's peachy, put on a face, so to speak, they'll smile at you, be super nice, and then go talk shit in your back, poison your food and tamper with your cosmetics. I don't know if it's always been the case, and I was just too socially inept to notice, or if there is in fact a hate culture, maybe a counterculture to ours, maybe from overpopulation concerns, where it's cool to strike people down, and post-war and post-recession behavior, where people are in a rush to get over their hardships, ready to run over everyone like they're trying to get the newest Harry Potter book before everyone. But yeah, it's become really hard for me to find a spot where I feel comfortable anymore. I had a boyfriend a bit before the holidays, maybe you guys know him, and he just really destabilized me. Even then, though, I don't really want to be with people who are always positive about everything. Everything has a good and a bad side, and I don't want to see Kevin as someone who burnt me and pushed me towards the people who're always "whee, everything's great!". No, not everything is great, there is a lot of stuff that's wrong, it needs to be talked about. But hate and passive aggressiveness and aggressiveness won't solve anything. I think I understand what you're saying though, they do that to set-up a shell around them, and I guess I'm the same way to some extent. I can be a bit snappy, myself. I think I'll have to watch out for that. You're also right. I do need better influences, but I'm not sure where to find them anymore. |
