KID KOALA [NINJA TUNE, MTL] Kid Koala is a world-renowned scratch DJ who has made a name for himself not only with his music, but also with his visual art. He has released three solo albums on Ninja Tune: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (2001), Some of My Best Friends Are DJs (2003), and Your Mom’s Favorite DJ (2006). He has also been involved in collaborations such as Gorillaz, Deltron 3030, and The Slew. He has toured with the likes of Radiohead, the Beastie Boys, Money Mark, John Medeski, Mike Patton, Jack Johnson, DJ Shadow, and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. He has contributed to scores for director Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World as well as director Rian Johnson’s Looper and has composed music for The National Film Board of Canada, Sesame Street, the Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim. His unforgettable live shows range from silly touring turntable carnivals like Short Attention Span Theater (featuring turntable bingo) to quiet-time events like Music To Draw To. Following up on the success of 2003’s Nufonia Must Fall, Space Cadet is Kid Koala’s second graphic novel. He lives in Montreal with his wife, 2 daughters and pet shrimp Amanda. NOSAJ THING [LIVE, US] Los Angeles producer Nosaj Thing (Jason Chung) crafts stately, ethereal, synth-based instrumental hip-hop, with influences that range from Boards of Canada and DJ Shadow to Danny Elfman and Erik Satie. An L.A. native, he debuted with the self-released Views/Octopus EP in 2006 and signed with the Alpha Pup imprint for his full-length debut, Drift, in 2009. Yet Lorn passes far beyond this evocative brutality and plunges head first into the absurd, he draws not only a portrait of shadowy struggle but also arouses a dynamic universe of sentiments using deconstructed sounds and skills built from the ground up. Lorn's debut full-length album Nothing Else, released on Flyng Lotus' Brainfeeeder label, has stirred the minds of listeners and rattled the keyboards of critics around the world, accumulating praise from musical authorities such as Pitchfork and the BBC, as well as bloggers and the online underground alike.
