Good Mp3 Players That Can Also Record Dj Sets?

 Coolness: 86450 | I'm using some cheapo 30 dollar mp3 player from Walmart for my jogs. It's ok for listening to a whole mix straight through, but it takes forever to scroll through my tracks, and I have to hold the rewind button down for about a minute to rewind 10 seconds on a 320. there is no FF.
so can anyone recommend a good mp3 player? and preferably one that can also record a DJ set. I have a gig coming up and I wanna make sure I have something to record it with in case they don't. but I'm really out of the loop with these sorts of things. my top priority is getting a new mixer so I don't wanna spend too much, but any suggestions? |

 Coolness: 685535 | There's not really much that records out there, unless you go for specialty recording gear. Giving a way to record would mean two people can hook up their MP3 players together and 'share' music that's got DRM on it, and we can't have that! |

I'd have to hit the record button again. they do that to stop people from bootlegging movies I guess. wack I know some dude who has an old MDR in Toronto that he will sell me cheap. I guess I'll just grab that off him. I was just seeing if I could kill two birds with one stone well ok.. unless someone can recommend one that plays mp3s *and* records, what about just a good MP3 player then. one that has fast rewind and FF, and makes it easy to scroll through lists of tracks while I'm jogging. anyone? |

There's tons of cheap ones out there, but they're also not usually the best quality in terms of ease-of-use or durability.. People these days don't want to carry a ton of single-use gadgets around all the time, that's why phones/smartphones that are also MP3 players and cameras are so popular. |

 Coolness: 219915 | that's the only thing I despise about my Sony mp3 player... (not that I've spent the time to read, or do any investigating but...) I couldn't find a quick track scroll speed setting that I could change.
So, for example, when I'm listening to a set, if I want to simply scroll forward to 34 minutes in, all I can do is hold down the FF button, and it's like, 1.5x quicker than actually listening through. That was definitely one option on an ipod that I DID like, where you can skip through very easily, similar to clicking on the timeline on a media player on a computer... |

If by some fluke I dropped it, or it fell out of my pocket or whatever, it'd smash on the pavement. not good. also, I like to run though sprinklers in hot weather =) so I guess the cheapo is the best for that. still, I'd like a proper high-end one for everyday use |

For good, every-day listening, get yourself an Android phone and invest in the PowerAmp app  |

you can use a portable dat. or if your really into mp3 , then jump on their datasheets and have a look at their bitrate & sampling rate (ie 24bit 512kbps) higher the better , but then look at their autonomy time , witch are tied to one another as the more resolution the more energy the less recording time from battery usage or space avail. ebay my friend being portable isnt a constraint , use a 4 head vhs but youll definitely have to sit throught rewinding it , but quite easy to dump or port to mp3 afterwards . laptops would be a good alternative as thell save you the dumptime. but can crash during rec. a vhs wouldnt thou |

| Coolness: 86450 | well I'm going on a plane so I'm not gonna lug the Traktor Audio 8 box that I normally record with. I need to travel as minimally as possible so I can take the crucial stuff (vinyl & laptop) with me as carry-on luggage. that's my tentative plan anyway. some of my friends recommend putting the vinyl in luggage with lots of clothes around it for padding. but I'd really prefer it to stay with me.
I think I'll just scoop up that Sony mini disk recorder off that guy. he said he's barely used it and he wants 40 bucks. I've found them pretty user-friendly, and they're so small too.. ideal for traveling.  |

I'd do a little more rasearch before buying a minidisk though... as it is a lossy format and many of the older model are riddled with copyright protection that will make it a serious pain in the ass to get on your computer. I believe sony later removed the copyright protection on later models after these things started getting killed off by mp3 players. not to mention you need to buy mini disks... |

[ en.wikipedia.org ] look at the recording modes , i seen a lot of problem arise from loading mechanism from sittin on it or some shit in the service rep center where i was at. never seen one for anything else, might be -1- blown optical pickup but these can be a wonderfull workaround for dee-r-m but have a look at the recording modes in the link ; 475 min using a 1gb disk at 256k rate . id personnaly would look on ebay for a really cheap giveaway of these as they arent mfg anymore. ppl have completely hated that medium , hense 10$ deals outthere. |

 Coolness: 221710 | i was looking for just that, a recording mp3 player many years back and still have one lying around. i'd definatly sell it away if you need it.. it's a Iriver (they don;t make em anymore).. you just plug in a headphone wire (not sure on the technical term) and set the thing to record and voila.. its got 1G of built-in memory. it's fairly easy also to extract the mix into your PC. it's battery operated
