Ok so these days, everyone on my facebook seems to be into this new movement, moombathon, and i really tried to enjoy or understand it, but I'm really REALLY not sure about this new hip style. Raggathon dub, super slow with some kind of r'n'b ... what do you guyz think? DOn'T hate me if you are really into this, i just try to understand :P

Moombathon is the new dubstep, its like slowed down tribal house with breaks and heavy bass.
Its part of a whole wave of nu latin unfluenced music which is really big right now A lot of its shit, but I'd been able find a couple of slammers :)

I think it's really slow as well to be enjoyable, i live around 130 bpm , 110 is way too slow for me to get excited about it!

Its slow relative to faster stuff
I go from hip hop breaks and dancehall into that stuff so it sounds like its getting faster, and then I slowly pitch it up until I hit a 120 or 130 bpm range where I can play funky breaks and house. But again thats my style, I use a large repertoire with a lot of different bpms in what I play, so obviously it wont work if you go directly from Moombathon to Nu skool breaks for example because the tempos are too far apart So far I like this remix of Intergalactic by this guy Rico South, some dancehall remix I forget the title off and this other track called Sabo by Mezclaton. The only thing with the Sabo track is I find some of the flute parts cheesy, so I created my own edit where I just cut out some parts. You can check out the Rico South one here, people go off to this one! [ soundcloud.com ]

I tried getting through the diplo mix last night and after awhile that same ultra repetitive 4x4 tribal baseline drove me nuts! Not liking it at all

There is a decent amount of moombahton / moombahcore on the generation bass blog, if you want to check it out.
i'm not a big fan either cause its usually really really slow and boring but skrillex did this track that i like (which seems to be just moombahton-inspired and not actual moombahton): |
