Tai chi is awesome. Great excercice of the body and mind

i loooved it, and went to that place: [ www.lianyee.com ]

it's corner st-denis mont-royal. It's not super expensive and the master there was super nice and appanrently one of the best

They don't care if you are beginer or expert, everyone train at the same time, and wait for the ones who starts.

I highly recomend it.
I'm feeling kiss me, im shitface right now..

The only one I tried in Montreal was in YMCA du Parc, and wasn't great... (I practised it near Paris for 3 years and it was most awesome, though; anyways, my teacher has moved back to vietnam)

Nam Anh Kung Fu close to Henri Bourassa Metro is probably the most traditional tai-chi school in Montreal.

They offer both Kung Fu and Tai Chi lessons under the supervision of Grand Master Nam Anh. If what you are looking for is the traditional way then Nam Anh is the way to go.

The teachings are not limited to Tai Chi though, it comes with a bit of philosophy, like I said: very traditional.

Here is a link if you are interested. BTW, the style of Kung Fu they teach for anyone who is interested in the Kung Fu aspect is Wing Chun which is the style that was practiced and taught by a certain Bruce Lee ;)

Their Tai Chi is the Yang style, one of the most common styles : slow and round movements (as opposed to Chen style, for example, rather martial, faster and sharper movements). They seem to mix it with Chi Kung, which is a good thing :)

Wing Chun is a style of Kung Fu from which Bruce Lee inspired for creating his own style (Jeet Kune Do)

ya I love Tai Chi - when I was 16 or so, I went to this Karate camp. it was really dope and really intensive - taught by the Red Belt Grandmaster of our style of karate. so each morning, he had us start the day by doing Tai Chi outside from 4:30 - 6:30 AM

he taught us that originally it was basically just slowed down Kung Fu. and that back in the day, the villagers started this style in slow motion.. so that way their overlords wouldn't realize that they were actually training a martial art

but I never did it again after that camp. I should though.. it's great for mind body and soul and a really relaxing way to start the day.

ya about 15 years ago in Hamilton I was taking Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do. I really really liked it. I took karate for 5 years, and kickboxing. but I think Wing Chun is by far the best. really graceful, and the way it uses the opponents force againt them suits my style very well.

I'm not a big guy, so by the age of 10 I learned - *never* meet force with force. I was a tiny kid and I used to get tested a lot.. so I learned to just use their own force against them, with minimal exertion on my part.

with that technique, if somebody comes at me, I can just sidestep and and use their own momentum to whip them into the gravel. something I've done many time.. and after being thrown down a couple times, it's over. the other guy will be in such a blind rage you can dance circles around em =)

I'd definitely like to sign up again for some Kung Fu - I just need to find a very reputable Sifu.

I love Wing chun :) When I did Karate classes when I was 11, my sensei showed us many other martial arts and he was a big fan of Wing chun so we did some. I went to a class in March and that's the one martial art I feel so much at ease in it.

I was thinking about re-starting doing some during the next semester since I'll have much more time for it.
I'm feeling horny right now..

You should look up Nam Ahn, 9th degree red belt in Wing Chun. Here's his bio off the same site:

Like I said, very traditional, so if that's what you are looking for you want to have a look ;)
