what is your preference ? i'll be getting a new sound system in the future and theres no way my headphones that i currently have will be good at all, i already have to push them into my ear when mixing tracks sometimes so it's gonna be impossible apres le.

i'm looking for affordable decent headphones that block out that outside sound, my price range is 80-100 i can order online and whatnot as well... well.. i'd rather order online since you can get most headphones for about 70 % cheaper lol
I'm feeling reallu hungover right now..

My personal favorites are the Stanton DJ Pro 2000, but they're a little on the tough side to find these days..

They don't sound the greatest, but they're great for mixing.. the cups really fit TOTALLY over your ears, so you don't have anything pressing up against the cartilage/earlobe, they're damn good at blocking outside sound..

But my personal favorite - the cord is detachable:

So if your cord fucks up, you don't need to send the headphones out to be repaired, don't need to pay parts and labour, don't have to have them opened up and a new one soldered in, or if you're lazy, no need to buy new headphones just because the cord is busted... just get a $20 replacement and plug it in and they're good as new!
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

QFT! Although I have no idea about their availability these days, I remember buying them brand new at Moog in 2007 or 2008 for $80, regular price (which already was a good price for the quality).
I'm feeling the flow right now..

I think I got the last pair at Steves.. a few sites online have them, but really not all that much 'pro' stores.. just like, those eBay "Pro Music Store" guys that sell off a bunch of stock that's not moving from store names that sound really sketchy..

wow! those look great!!, see FINALLY someone is thinking - detachable cord!! know how many times i've thrown away headphones because of that issue! haha

i'm definitely going to look into ordering these, n they're at steve's ? if the price difference isn't too big i'll just go downtown n pick up a pair :) it blocks out the outside sound really wel too ?

you could also go the crazy cheap route... hit up RONA for some ear protection headphones (serious noise cancellation) - and then get a set of cheap headphones and stick 'em inside.

I've played 100,000+ watt sound systems with mine - and the drivers inside came out of the free headphones that came with a $10 walkman.
I'm feeling new records right now..

you make a good point.. I wanna be careful at gigs with my hearing. how much do those ear plugs cost.. the custom ones that filter out harmful frequencies? I dont wanna take chances playiing somewhere on a really loud system.

I'm told from a few reliable sources that these are really good. I think I'm gonna get a pair

Sennheiser HD25-1 II Headphones

my friend has been DJing with the same pair since 1994. you can replace individual parts if they break

I've seen them around a lot, being used by awesome experienced DJs, but I have to admit I don't like them at all :P
Too small and fragile, not enough bass and external noise protection for me.
Some people prefer those, some don't ;)

yeah, they were losing money! Most people are too lazy to get their headphone cords repaired so they just buy a new pair.. making the cord replaceable by anyone, they went from making 100$ sales to 20$ sales when headphones broke..
