disgusting. I'm sure this happens all the time and the vitims don't report it or can't prove it. but luckily this genius had a co-worker videotape it, and it someone got online. he's now been charged with Assault and Battery, Kidnapping, Unarmed Robbery and Filing a False Police Report

bouncers should be a real certified job aka security guards.

Honestly they deal with more douches than security guards do. Giving any meathead the job is pretty stupid, the really good ones know how to avoid a fight and keep the peace. Otherwise you end up with psycho patrons who were dealt with in an unprofessional way coming back to the club and gunning down people in line like what happened in montreal a few years back.

There's a new law in Quebec that says bouncers now have to take a Security Course at some security 'school'. Came into effect a month ago.
It's all good to teach bouncers how to deal with situations, but on the other hand it seems like a scam since the courses are in the 700$ range, and pretty much obligatory (though I'm not sure how enforced it'll be) ...

I think each club should have 1 certified bouncer who trains the others, and the club should be more responsible with how their security treats people. I've found that even the club owners end up being to shy/scared to tell the bouncers how to work, and bouncers end up having a blank cheque.

Security is necessary most of the time, but I've almost always found, with few exceptions, that bouncers are either over-zealous, or lazy and incompetent. But then again, they get paid to be "air-bête" to a certain extent. But I've seen some really nice dudes, that are also big n' scary, and they smile and all that until they need to take care of business.

meh, this kind of shit happens too often - but we're always happy bouncers are around when something goes wrong ... what choice do we have?
I'm feeling you up right now..

If I am not mistaken, in Canada bouncers are supposed to have their Security Agent Permit which is valid only for one year and can only be obtained through a request by your employer to the government. If everything checks out and you have a clean record, it will be issued.

Unfortunately I don't think all bars do it this way, they might be going through a physical security agency though as I often see bouncers working for different clubs on different nights.

yup. that happened in Toronto at this sketchy little club/afterhours on Yonge St. called Spincat. they did various little ravey / D&B nights there. this little dude came up behind the head bouncer at the bar - didn't say a word.. just shot him in the head and walked off. never got caught. I figured that bouncer must've taxed the wrong person.

ya. I found it hard to watch. that guy was so scared. the creepiest part I thought.. at 2:03, the bouncer asks him "have you ever been hit with a hammer?" .... that's really evil. I hope that guy gets the same treatment every day in the penitentiary.

the guy is definitly scared and you can feel it.

"oh great brown dude." i just still can't believe it

Everything in that video is wrong. You can't treat human like that and you can't definitely not think you are superior than anyone

when I was in Winnipeg over the holidays there were a bunch of stories in the news about making changes to the laws regarding bouncers... currently it's mostly unregulated, but there's a growing desire that it be required that they're bonded, that they'd have them go through a comprehensive training course, and be overseen by the same agency that looks after security guards and private investigators. This is all response to a number of severe beatings administered by bouncers (including at least a couple of deaths) over the last few years.

Power trips are scary shit... on the other side of things, when I worked in bars I saw bouncers having to deal with some pretty fucked up situations... drunks getting a little too friendly with waitresses, fights breaking out (involving concealed weapons - or improvised ones like broken bottles and glasses)... I'll never forget the time I heard a bouncer let out a bloodcurdling scream when a guy nearly bit off part of his finger while he was trying to separate a bunch of guys trying to start a brawl at closing time.
I'm feeling new records right now..

ya here in Hamilton about 5 years ago.. there's this seedy strip club in a rough part of the city. the head of security there was this *gigantic* guy.. he's over 7 feet tall and must be 350 pounds. I'm not exaggerating that, cuz they mentioned it in the news later. anyway in my younger years when I used to go there from time to time, I've seen him slap around tough guys like they're rag dolls. really dangerous guy and really mean and hot tempered too

but a few years back some guy decided to celebrate his friend's bachelor party at the strip club, and at the end of the night I guess he had too much to drink.. he got into some kind of minor altercation with this monster, got ejected, and then got beaten to death in the parking lot of the club. the bouncer could have removed him so easily, and instead he killed the poor guy over nothing. the trial was a big deal in the news here. He pled not guilty and said it was accidental, or whatever his bullshit defense was, but they convicted him for second degree murder.. but that's what happens when you hire psychopathic rage-aholic thugs to do your security.. moral of the story.. don't ever go to dodgy bars in Hamilton.. it's a very sketchy city...

yeah they have a tough job for sure.. my friend here in Hamilton is a great bouncer. I met him in grade 9 but then he dropped out that year to train kung-fu full time. he's only 135 pounds but he's a beast! if he does have to get physical, he's a blur.. but he can usually defuse a situation just with words and subtle intimidation. he's really zen. kinda reminds me of Logan.. lol
