Help With Fallout 3

 Coolness: 145185 | i've installed it and it seems that everything should be in order and a go to start the game and i press 'new game' it starts to load and then the clock thing comes half way around then it crashes, it gives me the "fallout has encountered a problem" message
this is the file it sends C:\DOCUME~1\a\LOCALS~1\Temp\92a2_appcompat.txt any i spent the afternoon trying to trouble shoot the thing with patches etc and not having any luck... my comp is a bit under spec for it (it asks for a 2.4G dual core processor mine is a 2.3g dual core) but it shouldn't be a problem can some one please help me |

 Coolness: 103320 | 1) Install Fallout 3
2) Copy FalloutLauncher.exe and rename the copy FalloutLauncher-something.exe Fill in whatever you want for "something"... like... "FalloutLauncher-cracked.exe" 3) Copy in the LEGIT FalloutLauncher.exe from the Materials folder. 4) Run the LEGIT provided patch (Fallout3_v1.7_English_US.exe) 5) Edit the shortcuts for your desktop and start menu to point to the -something launcher or create new ones that point to it. 6) Enjoy! |

 Coolness: 685575 | I'm going to take a stab in the dark and assume you're playing on Windows 7.. It's a known flaw that Bethesda have done nothing to even attempt to fix or even acknowledged.. Fallout 3 can't handle multi-core systems properly under Windows 7
Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 Find the line: bUseThreadedAI=0 change it to: bUseThreadedAI=1 Add another line after it and insert: iNumHWThreads=2 This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze. |

| Coolness: 685575 | well the games themselves usually are exactly the same, the crack is just the main EXE that's been modified, so you can try out the different ones if nothing is working. |
