paper companies use at least 30% of post and pre consumer recycled material in most products... the only paper that is 100% post consumer recycled is cascade's enviro 100 and from what I've been told by press guys, its a shit nightmare to print on...
Correct me if I'm wrong Scott but in the case of the above company, I'm pretty sure they do runs on 44"x36" sheets with everyone and their mom's 4"x6" flyer on it. This means that you don't really get the choice of... well of anything really. It's cmyk on whatever paper the shop chose in the first place... probably something that prints well and is fairly priced (the exact opposite of enviro 100)
I'm feeling forward every thurs right now.. |

Enviro 100 isn't that hard to print on, I get jobs done on it constantly. It looks like shit though, it's fricken 100% post consumer what do you expect, plus it's totally matte and getting it coated pretty much beats the purpose of having this type of paper.
I'm feeling so many robots! right now.. |

I thought all varnishes and inks had to be vegetable based or biodegradable and shit... or was it just the ink? There is water based coating though... might not give a killer gloss but...

Just the ink, some varnishes still contain heavy duty chemicals. Our rapport annuel (Salette Power lol) was for Tourisme Québec it was on Enviro 100 and when looking for spot varnish or anything coated they turned us down, not because of cost, but because of the environmental impact the brochure may have.
