My AlienWare Area-51 decided to quit on me a couple days ago, and I was wondering if anyone had a good repair place to recommend. The laptop worked fine on battery but won't charge anymore, and the issue isn't the AC Adapter, my guess is that the problem is the DC Jack's soldering that melted (with a very long history of overheating) ...

So I guess my question to those who know more than I do is whether it's possible to have it repaired, and if so, for how much, and where?
I'm feeling god complex right now..

i can solder it if its your powerjack thats destroyed.

circuit wise a laptop board is nowofthen too small and have too much layers if the problems is related parts in the charge section of the board to do any repairs , in that case a replacement board/clone part donor is quicker.

but a jack most all the time is pretty easy , you could also reuse the one you have dep how bad it is

ill be out of town till april 9

unless you have transportation, then its almost your call.

pm me if your interested

Already PMed, although my only transportation is Metro, and the faster I can get it fixed, the better, but I'll keep you in mind if for some reason I couldn't get it fixed before you're back in town.
