January 5th, 1910, exactly one hundred years ago, the Montreal Canadiens played their very first game ever against the Cobalt Silver kings.

The Game was played at the Jubilee Arena, an indoor arena located in Montreal, at the corner of St. Catherine Street East and Moreau Street. It was used for games of the Montreal Canadiens hockey club of the from 1909 to 1910 and again in 1919, and it was home of the Montreal Wanderers NHA club from 1910. It was originally built in 1908 and held seating for 3,200 spectators.

In 1918, when the Montreal Arena burned down, the Canadiens moved into Jubilee Arena on a full-time basis. In the summer of 1919, Jubilee Arena also burned down, forcing the Habs to build and move into the Mount Royal Arena which opened in 1920.

The Habs won 7-6 in overtime. It was one of only three victories for the club that year as they had 10 losses in the 12 game inaugural season for the NHA, which was later disbanded. Their third victory was also their last game that year and also in overtime and, to their amazement, they beat the Shamrocks. The famous Newsy Lalonde and Didier "the Cannonball" Pitre were members of the club. The Shamrocks and the Wanderers were also from Montreal and played in that league. Besides the 3 Montreal Clubs and Cobalt, Renfrew, Haileybury and Ottawa had clubs in the 7 team league.

The Cobalt Silver Kings played from 1906 to 1911 in Cobalt Ontario , Canada .

The 1910 team was owned by Renfrew , Ontario mine operator Ambrose O'Brien. The team originated in the Timiskamg Professional Hockey League and returned to the TPHL. The Cobalt NHA franchise was transferred to the Quebec Bulldogs for the 2nd season of the NHA.

In 1999, the team was resurrected by Randy and Wade Morin and the team currently plays in the True North Hockey League
I'm feeling surly right now..
