| Coolness: 93490 | Bleh...The cost of the film was 450M incl marketing, and it earned $230M in the opening weekend. It will earn about half of its revenue from non-box office related sources such as dvds, videos, toys, marketing with MacDonalds ect, so you can assume its already pulled in $460M. If you assume 90% profit margin for box-office, and a 70% margin for all other related revenue...it will be profitable by chirstmas eve.
So 450M might seem like a lot of money, but over 3B people have the opportunity to enjoy the film. Thats like pennies per person. Not only that, but the enviornmental footprint of digital media is so small. If anything we need more things like this being produced...things that can be enjoyed by all. More music, more art, more film. Less shit that fills up the landfill or that can be enjoyed by one person exclusively. |
