 Coolness: 91465 | Hi all
I have a Roland Jx-3P and a Roland Juno-2 that have a couple of dead notes on them. Could anyone give me some information on how to fix the dead notes, I want to learn how because If I take these units to repair everytime a note dies, I wont ever see the end of it. I have a solder vacuum and I'll purchase a Weller soldering thingy anytime soon. Discuss! Thank you. |

 Coolness: 127840 | Dead keys.. might just need a good cleaning. Hidra probably knows more on the subject than anyone here... might wanna talk to him before doing anything drastic. |

I am pretty positive that it is a matter of cleaner and contacts renewal as well considering that some notes works once in a while but I'd like to know what is the procedure in order not to fuck it all up. there should be some lights on the circuit board that will "not" light up if there is a problem with one of the voices. otherwise it's probably a matter of cleaning. at least thats how it worked with my polysix... |

I'm kinda scared to open them up at the moment since the service manuals don't even explain in what order to take which part off. I might sound wuss but I already serviced someone that was impatient enough to try to fix his headphone jack on a Korg Triton 3 days after purchase. The whole thing opened up like a jack-in-the-box with ribbons and PC boards flying around. Beleive me, I was kinda crying and laughing at him when he walked in the store and showed that disaster to me. If h'd called us, told us the problem, he would have got his Triton exchanged right on the spot. Anyways, back on track, I will follow your advise Murdock as soon as I figure out how to safely open them up. I know a Triton got way more gizmos inside since it's digital but I don't wanna wreck the whole thing trying to fix it, ya know.
