it is not compatible with the chipset of my computer. It takes the dust in a corner in my studio. I'm from Montreal. |

Lemme guess: Tech support from Motu told you:"pffffff... I dunno... buy a 2408mk3 or a 24 I/O instead, but we won't take back the 2408 mkII"

The card is no longer suport. Generally all companies say the same thing in this situation. 3/4 of my gear are no longer suport. :) |

no, I use Cubase since Cubase VST32! I use PT too but I don't realy like it. It's good for record a rock band. Not to create a techno song. Except since the v8. MOTU is a very good brand but built initialy for Mac and not especially for pc. But my MOTU MIDI timepiece 8x8 work very well with my pc :) |

nice, i used to use protools, yeah, its the best for recording and mixing, but the editing and producing part in this daw completely sucks.
cubase ftw! | |

If I get your 2408 and I also have chipset issues, would you take it back? Update » SourUltraFast wrote on Wed Oct 21, 2009 @ 12:38pm Oops my bad: Thought it was a 24 analog IO.
I withdraw my pitch | |

RTFM. Motu firewire cards are only compatable with a Texas Instruments or Lucent Technologies 1394 chipsets. Your built-in pc firewire interface is VERY unlikely to be up to spec. I use a Lacie PCI-firewire card, cost less than 30 bucks and works sweet. Im constantly running all 8 TRS outs at 24bit and havent had many issues at all... Im looking into getting the microclock mk2 and 2408 mod from [ www.blacklionaudio.com ] - beats paying 3k for an apogee;) |

That's because TI FW chipsets are by far the best. If I had a studio desktop (not a Macbook Pro) I'd get this MOTU card. It's pretty sick. |

Anyways... good luck to y'all when it comes down to dealing with MOTU's support even if your product is still supported.

The PCI-324 is motu's pci-firewire interface and it's not a prerequisite for using the 2408. Ive read numerous reports of it bugging out on Asus motherboards. I dont see what's stopping the op from buying a 3rd party PCI card and just running the firewire cable directly |

Subtone, RTF1P (read the fucking 1st post). The 2408mk2 come with a pci-324. MOTU suggère d'utiliser un chipset ASUS (ou Asrock qui la marque "bas de gamme" de ASUS) avec un pc. You can use another cheap card than the pci-324. But you will lost the DSP power (and the mixer and internal routing and effect, etc...) from the pci-324 and the ASIO driver! What Asio driver do you use after ? asio4all ?!! ...
DainJa, don't speak about this dummy company in my threat please lol SourUltraFast, You're right ;) BTW, it is sold. |
