Help! Solution To Prevent Turntables From Skipping At Parties

 Coolness: 299335 | So I have this venue and there's a perfect spot for a dj booth but the floor is made of wood and if you dance in front of the booth the turntables skip. Anyone know about a website that has info on that? In the past i've used tennis balls cut in half (semi works, i need better) and those inflatable cushions (doesn't work at all). We're in 2009 there should be a flawless answer by now. Anyone? |

 Coolness: 166555 | well, either use a ton of foam under the turtables, and/or use a very very heavy sturdy table to put the gear on..
i've seen some sort of spring system used too, but it didn't seem that effective. (so the tables float on something in a void, without directly touching a tabletop surface) sorry, don't know any sites, or better solutions :/ agreed though; you'd think that since we can send ppl into space, we could stop turntables from skipping... .. . |

 Coolness: 685600 | I'd say find another spot.. no matter what "anti skip" method you use (short of Dee's idea to suspend them from the ceiling) unless you totally add some crazy shock absorbing system on the whole table, there's still gonna be movement that will eventually cause them to skip.. |

 Coolness: 73095 | Actually the best shock absorption method I've ever used were very large and fluffy pillows under the deck. Maybe a few cinder blocks under the table or near the feet as well. |

but suspending the table is a good idea, i think, prodived you are allowed and able to do it ! that's the way it was at cafe chaos' 2nd floor for KO nights, ísn't it ? |

 Coolness: 86515 | ah man. some wooden floors are the worst for jumpy needles. Labyrinth Lounge and Reverb in Toronto were bad for that. especially when some 200 pound meathead is kick-stepping all over the floor in front of you.
I remember my friend brought R.A.W. to play at Labyrinth Lounge in 2002. the guy is a crazy turntablist DJ, but he wound up not doing any scratching or tricks because the floor was too jumpy. I personally hate those inflatable water-wing lookin things - I find it still skips and the wobbly playing surface is annoying as fuck. 1/2 tennis balls worked somewhat better. I've had to weight the cartridges with nickels before - terrible for the vinyl of course but I had no choice. i guess chains are the way to go. I loved playing on the Cafe Chaos decks. |

 Coolness: 140695 | construit un cadre en bois, un peu plus gros que la table tournante, a l'interieur t'accroche des elastiques pour que ta table tournante ne touche qu'au elastiques... et arrange toi pour que ta table soit a niveau
aussi, trouve la table la plus lourde possible et rajoute du caouchouc aux pates pour absorber un peu de vibration... et si ca aide toujours pas, arrange toi pour mettre une ceraine distance entre le dancefloor et le dj... genre avoir une banner ou dquoi qui empêche le monde d'aller trop proche |

 Coolness: 87585 | Haha, reminds me of a party we threw a few years beack where we used both tennis balls cut in half that we had put under each of the actual table's legs and imitated those inflatable thingys to go under the turntables by buying a few inflatable toys for the pool at Dollarama and putting them under the turntables. Believe it or not, the tables didn't skip at all. You could see the whole set-up wobbling around, but the wobble was smooth, so no skipping. :) |

I know a few guys that swear by that solution... |
