Deficit to top $50B this year: Flaherty

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced Tuesday that the government's shortfall will be more than $16 billion higher in 2009-2010 than he forecast in January's budget.

"We will run a substantial short-term deficit this year which I would estimate at more than $50 billion," Flaherty said.

The massive revision comes just a month after Flaherty said he was not changing his forecast.

I dont understand how you can be off by $16b over a 1 month period. Thats like a 43% revision. He must have forgotten to carry the 1

Anyone who tells me that Canadian finance administrators and advisors are the best in the world can go fuck themselves.

Caisse de Dépôt fraud this, projected downtown CHUM hospital costs quadrupling when a single brick hasn't been laid that, extension of highway 25 to Laval tripling in costs for no apparent reasons this, UQAM's "Îlot Voyageur" that, Norbourg this...

And that's just in the province of Quebec. Yeah, we really excel with numbers in this country.

Then people wonder why I don't vote. At least my trust in people behind our country's economic structure can be resumed with a number that's easily calculated : 0.

How am I expected to pay my bills on time and figure out a budget when the guys on top of the ladder being paid 17 times my salary to crunch numbers all day FAIL at doing just that ?

Why aren't these people fired and replaced with actual people with actual competency ?
I'm feeling skate 2 right now..
