God of cheez IMO, I listened to a whole fucking lot of Tiesto in the 90s, his problem is that it's as if he's only got one fucking track it all sounds the same. Booooo.

Meh...I see Tiesto as more of the gateway. You pass through him at the beginning of the journey of exploring edm. So, if you're at the begining of the journey, he seems like the messiah. As you go farther and farther along, it seems less so. Ill always have a soft spot for him; he was my first.

I've never listened to a single track or mix by tiesto in my life. Fuck that. Even when I listened to happy hardcore I had more taste than that.

First: What Tiesto spinned in the 90 (ten years ago) and what he spins today is quite different.

Second: As if he had only one fucking track? Even in the 90 that wasnt true. (Thats the kind of comment you would hear any tourist say to describe ANY style of electronic music.)

Third: Tiesto is the highest paid dj in the business and the most well know/appreciated dj to boot. If that doesn't make him king, that will at least make him the democratically elected president of dj's.

Disclaimer: I didnt vote for him but I'll take a Tiesto mix over a Linda Lemay album any day.

What he spins now, sounds like cheese, what he spun then was also cheese. I wont say I didnt like nor that I will sometimes enjoy a dose of fromage. For fuck's sake, you can't get any more commercial or redundant than that. I'm sorry if I don't share your opinion, but I stand by it.

In the 90s all it was was epic trance with a never ending buildup, what he does now sounds like redundant radio garbage, again... just my opinion. Call me a tourist, I'm sorry I don't listen to the mainstream shit that the masses try to shove down my throat. Tourist? Tourists like cheese...

Moot fucking point, how much money do Brittney, Lil' Wayne and many other total morons who make garbage "music" make? The amount of money you make is NOT and never will be directly proportional to the quality of your product but rather how well marketted said product. These people make a shit ton of money manipulating the masses, telling them whats good and what they should listen to, what's cool and what's not.

Disclaimer: I didnt vote for him but I'll take a Tiesto mix over a Linda Lemay album any day.

A pizza just inst a pizza without cheese. Besides, most guys choose cheese over chocolate.

You can say you want about Britney and all the other pop stars out there but they do work with the most competent producers/techs/musicians money can buy. So what if its catchy, thats the whole point. They never pretended to be original.

Any type of music can be picked to pieces. Including Hardcore, Happy hardcore, dubstep, or any other type of edm. (did someone say redundant?)

What does being king mean if not having all the money and power?

Tiesto is responsible for getting more peoples into electronic music than any of your more artsy obscure niche dj (Aphex Twin would be the exception)

So apart from wanting to distance yourself from the masses, what the point on craping on Tiesto?

Daf: j'étais debout a 4 hrs du mat, chu pas mal réchauffé.

how do you know tiesto is of bad taste if you've never listened to a single track or mix of tiesto in your life?

Sorry, i suppose my statement was too general. I was refereing to younger people getting into edm. Very often Tiesto is the first music they're exposed to. He is the most mainstream DJ, so if ur entering from teh mainstream, he's usually one of the fist djs your exposed to.

Just out of curiosity, whos your favorite trance DJ?

It's very bad for your street credibility to admit to listening/liking the music Tiesto spins. Somehow it means that you are not original and have bad taste in music.

Asking anyone on [ rave.ca ] who there favorite dj is, is like asking a vegan what his/her favorite meat is.

p.s. Digweed rocks, Amok rocks, James Monroe rocks... pretty much anyone booked at Eclipse rocks.

p.s.2 On the t-shirt it kinda looks like its written: "Tiesto goo of trance"... witch is a pretty fitting description.

For the love of Tiesto (God of Trance), please, let's not.

As for him, meh, I dunno, I liked him a whole lot before he started acquiring popularity way back when. When that whore Mario Tremblay decided it was time for him to desecrate yet another music style to fattened his pockets and started looping Tiesto's remix of Delerium's Silence 15 times per set, I kinda starting veering away from that.

It was a bit of a stretch for me to listen to progressive trance anyway considering my background was hard acid techno. So my stance on Tiesto or any other artist is this : if it becomes too mainstream and deluded, chances are I'm gonna drop it. When glowstick twirling shirtless bodybuilding freaks started talking to me about Tiesto, I knew it was time for me to look elsewhere.

Case in point : Pendulum. First album was like the second coming of Christ for me and many others.
Second album : wouldn't even use the CD as a coaster.

Bottom line is : Tiesto is an ok guy, I like how he genuinely seems to enjoy what he's doing (as opposed to straight faced DJ who don't even tap their feet while mixing or interact with the crowd) but I'm passed my Tiesto phase. That's it. He's not awesome, he's not a humongous pile of shit, he's just....meh.
I'm feeling like nico bellic right now..
