A lot of funny samples that take away the focus, but it's evidently intentional. It's distracting because it makes me chuckle at the mix in a pavlovian kind of way. So now when i'm wasted i'll be thinking of Ginger Kids when these get dropped in the future? Haha. Once it gets going, it gets going though. People hate on this stuff but at face value, as "3 chords and the truth" punk meets a computer, without all the technical pot smoking neurofunk overwrought mumbo jumbo, the tunes are good tunes. Just like 'My Sharona' or 'Taking care of Business' are as much a tune as Steely Dan's 'Do It Again', no matter how cheap the former are compared to the latter. |

| Coolness: 685540 | The Ginger Kids thing is a video I found.. couldn't find an MP3 of it so I recorded the youtube clip, hence the sound quality on it being bad..
But the rest is honest DnB! The thing that 'bothers' me the most about it is that, I dunno, it lacks 'substance'. The drums are just cut-and-paste the whole track, the synths sound like presets from a keyboard you can by at radioshack for under 30$.. There's no thinking, like, "how can we tweak a filter so that people will think 'holy fuck, what the fuck was that!'".. It's like Krusty the Clown's Seal of Aproval; It's not good, it's good enough. At least stuff like My Sharona or Taking Care of buisness, I mean, they came up with lyrics.. It's not just an 8-bar loop with a 16-bar breakdown and an 32-bar intro extended to 7 minutes.. |
