Shure SM-58
it's like the most standard, ultra-durable mic you can get.

If budget is the most important factor, then : [ www.sweetwater.com ] If your budget is a bit larger, then: [ www.sweetwater.com ] If sky's the limit, then: [ www.sweetwater.com ] or [ www.sweetwater.com ] I own the Blue Kiwi and it is my favorite mic ever: Modern tone, low mids are smooth and they don't sound like a cardboard box. The hi frequencies are a bit brittle, but it still a very natural balance in overall. And of course, if you get a kick-ass mic, you'll need a kick-ass pre-amp too. yeah that audio technica is around my budget...
as far as pre-amps... it would be nice to be able to afford something fancy, but for now i think it might be overkill. i haven't got to test it out with more than my sm-58 at the moment but from what i've read online the pre's on my apogee duet should work out just fine for my needs at the present time. keep the recommendations rolling...

I think it honestly depends on what your recording and where. If your in a shitty room with bad noise interferences (loud computer fans, furnace ect.) the sm58 might be the best choice.
I'd give you recommendations if I knew what your needs were.
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now.. |
