 Coolness: 68365 | I am devistated, i got a friend a contact and a chance too throw a party at stereo bar cause he has friends comming down from new york and 300 peeps to fill the bar guaranteed. At the time when i was on the phone with my friend the manager of stereo bar, passed the phone to the guy that wants to throw the party they both talked blah blah blah....
The guy that is throwing the party closed the phone and looked at me and u r good sweety, if we get stereobar i am gonna give u a spot to spin for sure. He went back on his word and now throws me out of the line up, after i give him all these contacts. Now he is gonna spin along with 2-3 of his friends....... This guy isn't exactly a friend but he promised me that i could spin if it all works out at stereobar. That is my dream of spining at stereobar, now because of me he has a place to through a good party, to be heard maybe by the peeps at stereobar all be cause of me...Am I overreacting by feeling like i got stabbed in the back and feeling upset and angry? And is there anything i should do or say...Is it worth it? |

If you still haven't achieved your goal, you have something to keep striving for. Wouldn't it be better to play at stereo/stereo bar because word of your skill got around, rather than just be "that person that hooked the gig up and wanted to play, so we gave her the shitty opening slot to get her out of the way"? |

Lynzyn, if he said you would have a spot in the lineup, Then you should play, Especially if you're hooking up an important contact without which the party would not have been able to happen, From the way you present it, it seems like he got what he wanted from you (ie used you) And now he's screwing you, Personally I'd confont him directly on it, Offering you VIP treatment for a party you basically made happen sounds like a consolation prize, It also sounds like there might be a slight element of sexism involved especially if he said something to you like "u r good sweety" like he was talking to a stripper or something. I'd say stand up for yourself and get that gig You deserve it |

I'd love for one of them to go brag about how much they paid so they could say they played at Stereobar, As if you get hired to play that bar based on talent, and not on how you know lol... Honestly Lynzyn it sounds ridiculous, And to add insult to injury, they tell you they can't shorten their sets from 90mn to 72 mn to accommodate you? Terrible! |
