| jesus fucking christ, what is peoples problem? When you download shit does anyone else feel like the people who upload shit go out of their way to use weird obscure files, why can't people just use AVI for video and MP3 for music, is it so hard? |

| well, AVI is just a container file.. Like a ZIP/RAR containing a movie file and an audio file, and the information that synchs them up.. So really, when you download an AVI, you're getting any one of a whole mess of different formats of video and audio..
But for videos, as long as you're using VLC player, you shouldn't have any problems playing anything (other than RMVB, but that format sucks balls anyways) |

| I do agree that d/ling a torrent can prove to be an exercise in confusion sometimes. You get these files types proper to only one geigh encryption program that NO ONE uses.
There is also something else I find puzzling : why is it that you every so often, you'll find files compressed in RAR format inside a ZIP file, inside a 7Z file, inside another RAR file that's inside a ZIP file. WTF ?
Compressing and already compressed file is rather fucking futile at this point. If you aren't satisfied with RAR or ZIP, adjust your program to compensate.
Not only that but what difference does it make if the files ends up being 1.3Gb instead of 1.27Gb when you have 15 layers of compression ? My download is going to end 2 seconds earlier. Ooooouh. You save 2 seconds of download but waste 10 minutes of extracting 5 files.
That's just dumb. What purpose doe that serve ? If this is meant to help people with dial up connections, well...wtf are you doing downloading 3 Gb files on dial up ANYWAY ??? |

| having 82 rar files would be uselful back in the day when we had shit 14.4 kbps modems and downloaded from warez ftps.... go one file at the time and eventually you end up with the whole... 150 megs... of your bloody program. either that or you get .rar files small enough to fit on floppies and have like... three dozen floppies for C&C red alert... |
