Hi, i know some of you like betty_haze seem to have traveled a lot, so I figured this was a good place to ask some questions and get some info.

I'm planning a trip to Japan, and I'd like tips on hotels, clubs, what to do etc.

Just some info to help you answer me:

I'm going alone. I'm going mostly to go out, have fun, party. I might do a little sight-seeing, because I'm thinking, I'm already there, I should not pass the opportunity to visit a bit, but thats really not why I'm going.

Since i want to go out in bars and clubs, I'm wondering where should I get my hotel, so I'm close to the nightlife. I don't want to end up in a tourist trap. I don't want to go in tourist only clubs, as one of my goal is to be mostly out of any familiar element. I'm not going there as a sex tourist either.

I also don't mind paying for a good hotel if the room and service is nice.

I think I'll be going around 10 days, probably spending 7 in Tokyo and 3 on sight-seeing.

Any other good info you might think of will be appreciated. Recommended websites, books, etc...
I'm feeling booooored right now..

haha you mention me but i don't travel as much as some people i know.. few times a years only.. for sure i have tips on specific places but i have never been in asia.. i would like tho one day for sure! :) in the same time i would be scared that japan give me the creeps like the characters in "lost in translation" haha/ but a short journey would be so exciting.. the plane must be awfully long when you hate flying..

and i'm not one of these backpack travelers! let say i'm not THE best reference. haha sorry to disappoint you. ;)

i have few friends who traveled to japan and it seems amazingly different than america!

the best tips i have for travels is checking often flights prices as they can change often. also check reviews for hotel. i often found fabulous rooms or else for not much. if you are in a big city like tokyo or amsterdam or nyc..often it's worth not to be in the middle of town for quality and price ratio.
it's depend of your budget a lot also like do you have 500/day to spend or 200/day?...ect

it's sad to say but it's pretty much the $ who determined how you gonna travel..

maybe you should try to talk to the [ rave.ca ] member named giorgio_moisi, he lived in japan for a while..i think there's some japan nights on the calendar you might fint int. info.

have a safe trip!
I'm feeling hitched right now..

betty_haze... you were my only hope! ;)

I know how to travel, i traveled a lot myself, but never in Japan or Asia, what I was looking for was specific hotels etc. I've done plenty of research on the net but there is just so much stuff in tokyo its hard to unscramble all the info :P

I can go up to 400-450$/day if it includes food and taxi/bus/etc. I can't spend 450/day on a hotel room :P.

I am not a backpacker either, i was thinking of 1 full week in a hotel in downtown tokyo, and 3-4 days outside tokyo sight seeing.

I'll message giorgio, thanks for the tip!
