Yeah ok, hate me for not paying the required 100$ to purchase that bloated piece of crap that is Nero 8 Ultra Edition and getting it free online. Boohoo. About 1% of people on this board are using PC with XP paid for.

That being said, I am looking for another RECENT* CD/DVD burning software any of you l33t g33k5 use, adore and only swear by that isn't Nero 8 (unless you know of a SUREFIRE way of getting around that Patent Activation bullshit which doesn't involve deleting or patching which has proven to fail miserably. I'm done trying).

I'm not looking for a software that does a crapload of stuff, I just want something that converts from AVI/MPEG/DIVX to DVD format somewhat quickly (+100 if your suggestion involves something that allows the user to sacrifice quality for speed...I don't have an HD tv so whatever), burns files to a CD/DVD and has a pleasing user interface. I'm all up for those One-Button-Conversion-Then-Burn-To-DVD programs if it works well.

I'm sure you people will have tons of suggestions. Thank you in advance for that.

* : I'm sure this has been asked numerous times on this board before but there are so many new ones out there today, I'm sure a few new ones are gonna be mentioned here.

I hear ya. I got Nero 8 thinking it would be similar to previous versions. Boy was I in for a (crappy) surprize.

I may revert back to Nero 6 but hey, if I can find something that can combine the effetiveness of Nero for burning and Cucusoft's (aka the world's most retarded company name) conversion tools all in one software, I can get rid of 4 different software for just one.

I'm no control freak : I just want to burn movies so they're watchable on my living room's TV. That's it, that's all. LOL.

for real...
ya know what the best solution is...
just buy a dvd player that plays divx files...
i have had this one for over 2 years now and never had a problem.

burning about 5 full length movies on to a dvd as data takes about 5 minutes and you don't have to waste any time converting anything!!!
the 50$ it cost to buy will quikly be absorbed by the cash you will save on dvd's... not to mention the time you spend converting files.

Man, I've been racking my brains for nothing. And God knows my brain's not so hot in the "racking" department.

Thanks for the insight, guys. I'll look for a new player for movies and such instead.
