i think power naps are the best. really..

you know when you've stayed up a really long time, and you have a big day ahead of you? and you have to decide whether you want to grab that very, very short time you have to catch at least a few ZZZZZs, or do you just want to pull an all-nighter (or whatever day you are on...) ... i feel like i've experimented with this, and it seems like most of the time, its good to get some sleep!! i feel like every time i decide otherwise, i probably did it because my judgement was impaired , because of sleep dep. in other words, it is a bad idea. haaa and when i watch my friends make that decision, it is almost painful to watch..

naps are such a good idea, as exemplified by cats (which are obviously higher intelligence time travelling alien beings).
I'm feeling siamese chicken right now..

If you're sleep deprived, try not to nap more than 10 minutes at a time (power nap) during the day . If you sleep longer than that you'll get into a deeper sleep and feel worse when you wake up... You'll probably feel more energised after 10 minutes than 45 minutes of sleep...
I'm feeling relieved right now..

45 minutes is too long, by then you have time to fall into a good sleep.
If napping between classes, 20 minutes will make you feel refreshed.
45 makes you feel tired

you'll feel more tired for maybe 30 minutes after a 45 min nap, but you'll be more awake for the rest of the day
10 min naps just give me temporary benefits

yeah like for me a nap is 30min..i try not fall asleep but enough to relax my mind. more than that i feel too sleepy after and grumpy.

a good trick when you cannot get the usual amount of sleep that you need is to calcul by cycles of 90/110 min for your time to waking up. you should be more aware after 90 min that 150 minutes..i was using that when i was doing too much party and college and work..

also some substances/drugs are really bad for healthy sleeping because it often gives you the illusion of falling asleep but do almost never reach the stage n3 where it's really good for your body and mind.
I'm feeling hitched right now..

I often get to a point, either in class or at work, where I feel really sleepy, I'm "cogning des clous", like i try to stay awake but my eyes just won't accept not to close and then starts the delirium. Like in a class I can stay a good 40mins falling asleep for a few seconds, then waking up, then falling asleep, then waking up,etc. During that time, my mind is in state that a personally call "le charme", right between dreams and reality. I start having imaginery conversation with my teacher and the people around me, it's pretty fun. After maybe 40 min of harsh fight against sleep, cause, after all, I shouldn't sleep, im in my class, I finally feel very refreshed and full of energy.

Wasn't it Salvatore Dali who took small naps, with a spoon in his hand and a plate on the ground... When he got asleep, he would unconsciously drop the spoon on the plate, and then wake up because of the sound.
I'm feeling swamish right now..

Napping has perpetually fucked up my sleep cycle. I don't sleep at a decent time, have to get up early for class, take a nap because I didn't get enough sleep the night before, am too awake to get to bed at a decent time, lather, rinse, repeat.

Personally, if I didn't have to sleep, I wouldn't. I always feel like I don't sleep enough, but if I don't sleep at all then I'm very awake and running on pure adrenaline, IT'S GREAT! :D
I'm feeling nuclear right now..

My sleep cycle is all fucked up too... It's like I'm on a 26 hour clock... Sleep 9-10 hours, then stay up 16 hours like normal, so I tend to get to bed one day say at 11PM, but the next day I feel sleepy at midnight and then the next day it is 1AM, then 2AM, then 3AM, then I crash and burn, need naps, feel groggy/fucked up for a few days and manage to start the cycle over.

AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh! :(
I'm feeling pretty damn good right now..

basdini: between class naps should be no longer than 25 min, I set my phone to vibrate in the library so it doesn't piss everyone off when the alarm goes..

You don't have to fall asleep, as long as you go into like a lesser state of consciousness than being fully awake it recharges you. I sometimes go into this kind of semi-sleep where my mind wanders like dreaming almost but I am aware of my surroundings.. Then again I might just be nuts.
I'm feeling gangsta right now..
