I've been thinking of picking up an M-Audio audiophile firewire interface. I was just wondering how it compares to the firewire solo, or if anyone had any warnings that I should know before buying it.
Thanks
I'm feeling pnurfect right now..

they are both the same things...

you get what you pay for, a 200$ sound card...

dont expect much..

but they work alright...

It works as advertised, but you are buying the 'discount' product of the industry.

check out some of the presonus cards before buying it, they are comparable in price but have different features.

Right now I have an EMU 0404 which I really like, but I wanted this card because it has multiple analogue outputs (the 0404 only has one), so that I can cue tracks over the headphones while having a separate output running to the speakers.

yeah it depends if you need mic pre-amps also.. they can be handy (even the low quality ones on most cheap soundcards).

I have a preamp on my mixer - the presonus has balanced inputs which is nice. If I was buying it new I would definately go for that one but I'm hoping to get a used m-audio firewire interface online for around a 100.

honnestly dude don't go with M-Audio. the preamps are not crazy at all and the output quality is not that good. personally i tried the Focusrite Saphire LE and it's a very good card. the TC Electronic Konnekt 8 looks pretty good also and they are around the same price (around 350$ each).

i own a Firewire 410 and i try to keep my money to buy a new one...
