a promoter should never sell out of tickets in advance.

There is a simple formla to sell enough that you will be guaranteed to sell the rest at the door allowing you a certain number of tickets at 20$ thus making you more money.

If you have sold 80 presale , you will sell out at the door. So imagine if 100 people bought tickets at the door, the promoter would of made 1000$ extra.

Oh well. things you learn after doing it lots. There are books about event economics with some pretty standard formulas that apply to pretty much everything including dancing events.

I was actually planning to go and laugh at a bunch of you. Shucks eh.

that 80 is supposed to read 80%

you would only be afraid of not selling out with that many presales if you have never thrown events before. It is a calculated risk that will end up getting you more money 9.9 times out of 10.

thats true brad...

but its also partially a load of bologny anyone who's ever thrown an event outside the electronic music scene knows that it makes everybodys life a whole lot easier to sell out your presale.

ever see a sold out show at the bell center save tickets at the door?

and in the case of terra 3 the promoters not being greedy bastards saves alot of ppl the trouble of being rejected entry and being stranded in the bum fuck east end at 3am without a party to go to or even a metro ride home.

not to mention i'm sure the last thing the promoters want is an angry mob forming at the door...

the only promoters who pull that kinda shit are the shady ones who book tiesto type shit.

my 2 cents...

am i wrong?
I'm feeling warm unicorn jizz right now..

bell center doesn't adjust their ticket prices for when you get them so they have no reason to save any. Events that charge more at the door can take advantage of it.

Exactly. My guess is that these funfur clad trance DJs just want to throw a great party and cover their costs. Now that they know they've done that they can actually enjoy themselves tonight.
