Question About "sampling"

| If I wanted to do a psytrance version of lux atherna's requiem for a dream theme, what do you think the legalities of this would be?
I'm asking because I know GMS released a requiem for a dream remix on an album and I'm wondering if I made one, would I would be able to release it on a cd and sell it. |

| Theres a shitload of psytrance remixes of famous tracks... Noone I know has ever payed licensing fees and I doubt anyone would complain.. lame I know but most psytrance releases sell between 200 and 500 copies these days.. aka .. what are the majors going to sue you for?.. dried bagels and KD? .. I doubt it. ;) To be honest the reqiuem thing has been done and played to death, I doubt any label would buy it for starters. Why not try to do something a little more origonal or up to datelike the theme song for Talladega Nights (you get my point), unles you just wanna do it for kicks. good luck -K |
