New Ottawa Dance Safe Group

Coolness: 64945	S.O.A.P. Safe Ottawa Area Partying We're going to be launching our first ever appearance at a party called Emotion, at club saw this Friday. [ xvi.com ] We have a bit of a first aid kid in case anyone gets a minor injury at the party (ie. something tape, gauss, and hydrogen peroxide would solve). We have fancy yellow ear plugs (for sale, 50 cents a pop or extra if you want to make a donation..) that cut out 32 decibels of sound. These ones especially cut down on the high-note frequencies, so your ears won't hurt as much in the morning/after leaving the party if you happen to like hanging around the speakers. We will have staff on site with pamphlets of information about various narcotics, talking about the real effects of drugs on your body and mind. We're trying to take special consideration into how to reduce the amount of harm people cause themselves by taking whatever substances. The staff will be able to answer basic questions as well. Also, thanks to the Planned Parenthood centre, we will have safe-sex gear available as well, in the form of lube and condoms. Keep in mind this is our first event, so we're very open to any feedback. We will have a donation tin should anyone feel like supporting a good cause. Hope to see you out there, and remember; SOAP - Stay Clean!

Coolness: 64945	Thanks! We're going to be at the next Ottawa massive party, Here We Go, which is going to have an underground flavour. (They even put us on the flyer) After we posted this information up on the Ottawa night life board, we got an offer to set up a booth for Illuminatrix, a big 16+ psytrance party in one of Ottawa's clubs (Backstage), which is happening the night after Emotion. Interesting! Hopefully we will be able to make it out to most of Ottawa's upcoming ravestyle events, and maybe help make a positive change for some people..

We are having an open-to-the-public meeting in the weekend coming up to discus further modifications, and goals for the next party we're hitting (which is going to be much larger - Here We Go [ xvi.com ] ). I will post details of it on [ .ca ] as soon as we confirm everything.

Coolness: 39865	very very nice to hear aboot this! finally something being done. there was oats when i was a young raveress without info and they pluged me into the know. but for years the city's been without anyone to take care of the kids! good to see man! good to hear SOAP's being well recived by the clubs and scene in general.

Coolness: 64945	Thanks for the support everyone. :) \|copy/paste from XVI\|: SOAP is having an open-to-the-public meeting to talk about some of the adjustments we're making to the group to improve on everything that we're doing so far. Anybody is welcome so long as they remain focused and are interested in providing helpful input. Issues that we are going to be addressing in particular: -Content for narcotics Adjusting it to be more presentable/easier to read/immediately informative, design -Planning our website. Layout, forums(?), guestbook, content, Q&A, links to useful sites, etc -Special plans for the next show we're doing (Here We Go) Fruit, water for special cases, hand sanitizer, booth set up, etc. -Fundraising And many other topics. We will be at Chapters on the 2nd level above the starbucks at Rideau and Sussex this upcoming Saturday from 4pm until 8pm.
