 Coolness: 47865 | wow, I was just going to start a thread on the subject! Personnaly, I feel that christmas starts sucking really bad. After the stress of the job or the studies, vacations? No! The stress of finding gift ideas and shopping! We don't go to churches anymore (though I dont give a shit, as I'm not even baptised), we go to shopping malls, the temples of consumption. Christmas is the time of the year when the cultists of consumption that we are (and we don't really have the choice) make a big orgy. It's the orgasm of the consumption society. Kids are so manipulated by advertising that to please them, the gift session has to look like the huge endless fireworks of L'internationale des feux Loto-Québec. People don't really party anymore because thei're all tired. It's not about generosity yet. It became an obligation. I say fuck the christmas gifts. Generosity should be spontaneous. Not forced. |

 Coolness: 144890 | Well, you do have a choice. Everyone in my family knows, I won't give out any xmas gifts, cause I just don't have the money, and I'm not expecting anyone to give me any. If they want to, fine, but I don't really care if someone doesn't give me presents.
Anyways, to me, xmas is just another excuse to get drunk :p |

It was one of the best gift ever. ^__^ Pomgranates and mangoes... Yum! It doesn't need to be expensive, if it means much to the person. |
