These tapes inspired him to try his hand on the decks and he soon found himself hooked on the music. Within months he was playing at house parties nearly every weekend which allowed him to expand his musical knowledge and better understand the dynamics of the dancefloor. Kemal's preferred musical style at the time was minimal Detroit techno. As the years went on he started playing various clubs around Scotland and supporting big name DJ's. Gradually he became exposed to a more innovative and progressive sound known as drum and bass. Initially it was the melodic, deep Drum & Bass that Kemal favoured but perhaps due to his roots in Detroit techno, Kemal soon found himself being drawn to the harder side of the music and met others who felt that this was the style that was showing constant signs of progression and innovation. It was also this music that inspired Kemal and his partner, Rob Data, to start their own club nights to push Drum and bass in Glasgow forward. As many people would say, production goes hand in hand with DJ'ing. This is what prompted Rob and Kemal to set up their studio. Creating apocalyptic anthems through to techno influenced Rollers, few producers have left such an impact on drum and bass as Kemal. Alongside Rob Data, Kemal forged a distinct sound that has forever altered the face of breakbeat music. Their exceptional talent has led to various releases on established labels such as Moving Shadow, Dsci4, Timeless and abundant remixes. With Kemal's fast rising career as a producer he also quickly became a sought after dj and for the last few years he has almost constantly and very successfully been touring around the world. Now running his own imprint, Cryptic Audio, Kemal is currently creating some of the most innovative tracks the drum and bass world has ever experienced. And Ian, i really said Morcheeba sucks because they're as popular as Celine Dion right now, which makes me puke ....
When mr.everyone gets into something, i get out.... Maybe its an attitude i'm showing, then i assume Morcheeba sucks |
