| ya there are benefits to it like greater exposure to people you wouldn't normally be able to reach but it just always seemed really lame to me, i guess if you like that type of thing it's cool but i don't think i will ever be on it... |

| well, I see one thing that is a benefit from myspace,..and that is that many bands and djs i like find it easier to put news and new songs right there, so we basically have a more direct contact with some of them, anyway, I do with who I got on my friends list. |

| I love myspace. I found tons of old high school friends and amazing musicians on top of the musicians I already know. I became friends with a few kick ass bands - good to meet people in the rock scene. Also if u are single it is good to meet people for a wine and dine;)
Disadvantage - yes you get tons of friend requests by djs/bands/people you dont know. Just ignore it or decline. No big deal. |

| Not only will I NOT look at / listen to your tunes if you send me a myspace link, but in my eyes you'll also have done PERMANENT DAMAGE to your reputation and worth as an artist if that's how you choose to promote yourself.

Of course, you can personalize / customize your myspace page, put pretty pictures and stuff so your myspace looks " different ", so to speak, than the other myspace pages, but it seems the same underlying format is used on all pages, with the player on the right, picture of myspacer on the left with info ( name, country, etc. ), general info if you scroll a bit down, and then comments by " friends ". It just doesn't seem really idiosyncratic to me.
And I find the idea of making " friends " you know nothing about ( " add me ! " ), frantically looking for more " friends " you'll know nothing about, competing for the highest number of " friends," leaving shallow messages to friends who will drag you into " groups " and make you waste even more of your precious time... I don't know... strange ? But that's just me.
Myspace might just be another word for desperation. |
