My usual source isn't on msn... what would anyone suggest I use to recover a disk on a PC with a second working drive? Meaning of course that I do not need to boot. Of course I'd love a 'the best' disk recovery software for booting or not. Thanx in advance to anyone who answers!

To be quite honest, I am not exactly sure what is wrong. I wasn't told if the disk is unmountable but that is what I assumed. All i need is a disk recovery app ala norton.
What I am asking is for recommendations for programs that you know work well and have maybe helped you out of a bind.
Of course a program that can do it all, recover, rebuild, bootable, and etc.
I'd give more details but I don't have them yet :\

i don't know bootable programs that do what you want... but maybe you should try to boot with a knoppix cd, and see if you still have no means to access your disk.

the least you should check is whether the bios recognizes this disk (look at the IDE devices list at the very startup of you computer, or enter the bios by pressing Del (generally, or F3, or...) at startup)
