Wednesday June 21 L’Academy Dancehall 4445 Blvd St-Laurent 10 pm – 3am $5 entry ============= Women on Wax MTL presents an evening of eclectic and booty-shaking beats on Wednesday June 21st, marking the next installment of WOW’s highly anticipated monthly events at their new home at L’Academy Dancehall. This evening promises to bring yet another killer range of styles from hip hop to electro to techno and dubstep from WOW resident djs. WOW is also pleased to present a special guest performance by infamous street performance duo Hip Hop à la flute. Middle school post-karaoke Hip Hop street theatre at its finest! Women on Wax is a Montreal-based group of women djs, producers and performers who seek to explore the boundaries of electronic music through collaboration and cross-pollination. WOW was founded in early 2005 by DJs Jasmine, Cyan and Rue and since then has expanded to include a regular roster of local talent taking back the decks. Current residents include DJs Tashish, Dirty Dan and Ruby Jane. Since May 2005 they have hosted regular monthly events featuring local djs spanning genres from DnB & jungle to electro and techno to hip hop, grime, dubstep, dancehall, baile funk, funk and house. WOW has also featured djs from Toronto and Vancouver, live PAs, as well as circus and breakdance performances. In the Press...
