 Coolness: 55390 | Been learning Japanese for 2 years... grammar is hell but pronunciation is a joke. Chinese is just too scary with them tones and 10,000 characters to learn. The 2000 or so kanji used in Japanese are more than enough for me (got 500 down atm). At least I can more or less understand a chinese menu.
But yeah, you try and find japanese folk in Montreal. Not to mention having to endure condescending idiots who think "learning japanese = otaku" when I utterly despise anime, manga and geek culture. Korean looks interesting. So far I've almost got hangul figured out. Might be useful when the North collapses or otherwise opens up. It's also a badass-sounding language. Been studying a bit with this site. |
