I hope its ok to post this here, if not, please delete it and put a curse on me or something :-)
I have recently recorded this very deep & atmospheric progressive set. It is based on a set played this summer at moesgaard beach(Denmark) during the morning hours after a faster progressive psytrance set, and before a chillout set. (its mainly supposed to be played as the last trancy set during the daytime/warm hours). Im quite happy with the way it turned out, even though the very last beatmix is off slightly (forgive me). Featured artists include Sub 6, Fitalic, Dousk, Miniloque, Luke Chable, David West, Atmotech + many more. 17 tracks in all. There wont be a track list for this one, the flow is a surprise, which I find very important in a DJ set. If you are truely interested in the experience itself, you will understand this. Any comments are welcome. Download - [ www.doei.org ] Quality - 160/192kbit/s VBR. File size - 140Mb Length - 122minutes Gear - 1 Vestax PMC270a, 2 Pioneer CDJ100s, No Monitors / Headphones only. Quick Facts about DJ Krell(Jester Rec/Virus Tekk Rec). DJ since - 1994/95 (Club Nod) Genres - Full On, Dark Psy, Progressive House/Trance, Chillout & Old School Goa Trance. Age - 27 years old. |

Listening to your set now and so far so good. 30 Mins in -- Clubbervision :P
Definately my style for the first 30mins.. you have good beatmatching but I don't notice you utilizing the EQ's to their full potential... |

During the first mixes, I mostly use the EQ to sort out dissonanse between the tracks - Entering the mix with mid + low EQs totally down, and sometimes also a complete kill for either frequency (or else it will create tones that just sound wrong, especially in the first mix). I try to EQ tracks into each other every 32 64 128 and 256 beats, switching between EQing the bassline, and the mid frequencies + sometimes both.... but I havent really touched the highs that much (Ive only EQed the highs in tracks I am leaving in the mix, again to avoid dissonans). My aim is to make the tracks flow together as seamlessly as I can, not so much to mix it up aggressively. I think it lends itself the most to the music, which has so many smooth and atmospheric sounds. (trying to make those layers fade into each other). |

Disossanance... hmm you mean like harmony of the sounds? I was referring mainly that in a progressive set usually you progress and get louder and louder having many different high and low spots of the set. You slowly turn up the EQ's and let the sound creep in on you as if your getting higher and higher... I'm going to have a few more listens before I post a thorough review.. good to see A LOT of tracks that I couldn't ID. |

Dissonance = sounds not in harmony yes - Since there are all those atmospheric sounds they interfere with each other.
I always mix so that I have the same volume thruout the set - its something I aim for specificly, actually, I NEVER EQ anything above 0dB - I move from around - 16/12dB (or 32dB kills) and up to 0dB :-) I like it like that - Steady volume. The "scene" I come from is the psychedelic trance scene, perhaps that has something to do with it ? :-) I will keep an eye out for your demos :-) |

Great work Lars.. Great to see your posting your new mix here.. it is indeed a very deep mix. Beatmatching is very suttle and its hard to indentify when there's a transition.
For those who don't know, DJ Krell is one Jester Record's Label Dj's (also one for Virus-tek).. Keep Rockin Bro !! |

Thanks to [ www.mixupload.com ] you can now also stream this mix/set.
For streaming, go here.: [ www.mixupload.com ] Also, I have decided to post the tracklist now as well, which I am sure will please a lot of people. Simply didnt feel right to have a set online, with music made by these brilliant artists without being able to credit them all & their labels as they deserve.
