This just posted on [ cfcf.ca ] I think is a grrreat idea!

Quebec likely to follow U.S. lead

It looks like the Quebec government is getting ready to follow the lead of the U-S and extend daylight time by two months.
Various government sources say consultations within the affected provincial ministries confirm that a change was necessary.
Currently daylight time runs from the beginning of April to the end of October.
But with the proposed changes, in 2007, the clocks in Quebec would spring forward by one hour the first weekend of March.
They would then fall back the last weekend of November.
Government officials and business leaders have pushed for the change.
Their fear is that the economy and trade will suffer if Quebec isn't synchronized with its neighbours in the U-S.
Hydro Quebec says it expects to save on energy costs with the extra hours of sunshine at the end of the work day.
Quebec is now trying to convince other provinces to follow suit.
