Hi there !

I just found somme pictures of myself from many years ago while i was still raving.

It's been a while that i quit. I've been in the rave scene from 1995 to 2001 i guess, I quit because de scene was too commercial, the behavior and whay to think of many ravers decived me.

A first people was respecting the "plur" code...
when i left people was misjuging many others, and was too caring about their look... in 1995 Raves was a event... few in a years, only attended by ravers.... in 2001 it was to commercial and attended by many clubbers...

Now in 2005, i just wanna feel the beat of the scene... you are the raver of the new generation and i'd like to know what the scene looks like now ?

thanks !

Yan

there was actually a time when it was just people that went to " raves " . Not ravers , not clubbers. Just people that wanted to have a good time. Part of the problem that made raves suck so much include your elitist ravers rule attitude.

And for the record , ravers don't rule. The suck the big one.

i went to raves, i was never a raver. Labels suck =p as to why theres still funfur? same reason theres still acid-wash jeans and faux-hawks, some ppl need to fit a certain sub-culture to fit in, no matter how lame.

This isn't a good place to ask what ravers are like, there's barely any that come into these forums. Go to [ ravezone.qc.ca ] , their forum is full of ravers and you can see what's up.

In Mtl there aren't much kandy kids anymore. Just a little.
The scene tend to become smaller too, and yes, there is WAY too much useless drama going on ;)

But it's possible to continue partying and having fun and tripping on lights and music...

just stay away from the drama ;)

No i wasnt at the first Swirl... my first rave ever was "Oxygene 2" it was at the Montreal Just for Laugh museum.

I do not agree with the one who said about my "elitist rave attitude" ... i don't think that being a raver in the mid 90's makes me a elite... I'm nothing but myself.

And the one who said that the code never existed probably never been in a rave at that time.
The "plur" code truely existed that time and was respected... People didnt juged the others the way they dance, dress, talk and such they respected each others and that was the fun of that time... i was really like "modern hippies". thanks for the tip, i'll check the [ ravezone.qc.ca ] site.

I'm sure it's still possible of partying and having fun that was rave was all about...

Things Ive noticed in the past while are everyone I seem to meet are either promoters/upcoming promoters, dj's/has been/learning to mix, producers/makes some form of techno oriented music. Its nice to see so many people involved but I havnt met a simple "partygoer" in ages. (I wonder if they still exist) Not that this is a bad thing, although unfortunately, one-up conversation subjects are somewhat limited. Is this just me?

Raver ... of the old republic? um... well all the ravers of the Old Republic die in the "Rave Wars". A raver betray the whole plur code and use his superb glowstick wielding skill to kill them all.

Candy girls aren't that bad, some are sweet, some are sour, some taste like salted honey.

There was and always will be a elitist attitude. PLUR was a joke. It wasn't all sunchine and rainbows, do you really believe a state of plur existed?
promoters running away without paying the djs, drug running, tactful promoters "de"promoting other promoters parties, people stealing other people stuff,
et cetera...

The scene now, imho, is asunder and discombobulated.

i've been going to raves for more than a year now, i never had any problem with anybody at any event, every ppl seem to be so friendly and nice. i dont really care if the judge me because how i dress, how i dance or how do i look, no im not a model type i know that, and maybe sometimes i step on my own foot while dancing, and my clothes dont fit with each other... but whatever, i dont care, when i go to a rave i go there to have some fun, not to show off with my fancy stuff, my crazy breakdancing-poi-dj skillz (i dont have any of those by the way lol)

there are some really good raves here in montreal, i mean its worth a try... if u like to see some candy kids, go to a freeform-happy hardcore rave, if u would like something more psychadelic, there are great psy parties too and of course we have some wicked dnb nites too

In my opinon u shouldn't ask what others think of the scene, pick an event, go out and decide for yourself!

I laugh a lot with what you said about the "rave wars"... i just didnt knew how to name the thread ;)

Plur was not à joke... a least not when i began to rave... in the mid 90's, many raves was a non profit party.. i mean all the profits was given to a good charity cause... for example my first rave "Oxygen 2" all the profits was given to
"opération enfant soleil". Not all raves was like this but many (if it's not majority).

Big well knowned dj's wasnt coming to the raves because de Mtl scene was so small.

I didn't say that all was sunchine & Rainbows, but everyone was nice, friendly and REALLY gentle with others...

Maybe you didnt knew that period... cause it changed a lot... Even in 1999 it was very different from 1995... so imagine in 2005.
