What does everyone think about the removal of Israeli settlers from the Gaza strip?
Is it a step in the right direction? |

it'll be a better thing once both sides stop fighting over a plot of land no one in their right mind would want. |

Iraeli settlers that would refuse to move out for a better cause (which is peace, I find that to be a great cause) would be acting selfishly. |

I suppose you could say that this is headed in the right direction for allowing the Palestinians to form their own state.
I can't say that this is headed in the right direction for peace between Isrealis and Palestinians. |

heh, the only way there will be peace in that area is if:
A) either the palestinians leave their country or the Jews leave... (never gonna happen) B) they put up a huge wall dividing the two groups like the Berlin Wall C) a few nukes are dropped on the area.. nothing like silence for 40-50 years eh? |

[ news.bbc.co.uk ]
A sign on one settler's house read: "Knock on the door and you are a direct partner in the most terrible crime in the history of the nation of Israel". Riiiight, so giving the land back to the palestinians that was "conquered" 40 years ago.. is a terrible crime.. i get it.. |

well I think this might help a little, but from what I understand of Palestine, instead of video games they have suicide bombers, they collect CARDS. They're like gladiators. It's the prestigious thing to be. This war has gone on for so long that their life philosophy revolves around it, or at least so some would have me believe. What will they do when it's over? They'll be like oh shit, we have a big chunk of land.. let's keep killing ourselves errr... let's decide on a new holy land. |

Err... I'm drunk, pumped up full of medications and I feel like rambling.
In response to your post Sophia, I would like to tell you a story. The context that it came from was this movie, whose tittle escapes me at the moment, that was about the Nazis when they were planning the 'Final Soultion' and one of the characters was contemplating what would happen to the Nazi movement once all the Jews were eliminated. So it goes a little something like this, from what I remember... There was this young boy who had a horrible relationship with his father. His father had oppressed him, insulted him, beat him and made life in general much harder than it had to be. He hated his father. He wished to kill his father. All his time was spent contemplating how to disembowel the man; to torture the man; to make him feel the pain he had made him feel his whole life! One day, the young boys mother had passed away. At her funeral, her did not shed one single tear. He couldn't explain why, but he wasn't pain in the least and his life moved on. And life for the boy indeed moved on -violently- as it usually did between him and his father. Until the day his father died. Now at his fathers funeral. The boy was unconsolable! He cried and cried for days! And when asked why he would be crying over the death of man he hated so much and not for a mother who cared for him so dearly, his only response was that his life revolved around the hate of that man... and that with out that man to hate, he had no life to live. ...blah, blah, blah... if that means anything. |

That sounds like an interesting movie actually, what's it called?. I'd like to see how it applies itself in an entire culture though, I can't imagine. But this is why I think it may not be so easy to get them to back down, as sad as it is. Israel would probably have to move. No, no, they'd probably chase them to get rid of the demon people due to their newfound uselessness.. k well, fuck man I'm as stumped as them. |

how quickly things change..
[ www.aljazeera.com ] looks like israel is planning on "confiscating" some palestinian land, so that they can built a large military head quarters on it.. are they fucking stupid or something? it's honnestly as though they want to continue this war or something.. i just don't get it. |
